Its been a compelling tournament

Cape Verde
England v Mexico
This game
Haarland

And regarding athleticism

Hockey players would probably excell across other sports best

Size, speed, feet coordination, hand eye coordination, toughness

Haaland is insane. And because he plays for Norway, he’s going under the radar a bit imo. Many people don’t even realize he’s currently tied with Messi and Mbappé for most goals scored in the tourney for that golden boot. Norway is making a deep run because they got a great goalkeeper and Haaland carrying them.

The VAR shite needs to be recalibrated ,it's new so it makes sense the first time through it it's has some questionable results

But I find it funny that people who love soccer might be complaining about the VAR and FIFA because FIFA is corrupt at its core and all these soccer fans seem to accept it before these questionable reviews

Haaland under the radar is a new one. I guess that could be true if you're speaking from a stateside perspective... from casual fans who paid zero attention to the sport before the WC. He's one of the most recognizable players in the world.

He might look like an ogre, but he's recognizable. With guys like Messi playing elite at this age, the sport has never had this many elite superstars at the same time.

Okay
offer a rebuttal if you disagree

So many people are chiming in with their opinion about what sports translate best and what sports has the greatesst athletes

It's fine if you disagree you may even be right but offer some sort of logical rebuttal. When this board was all a twitter about hockey when the US and Canada were playing everyone thought they were an expert about hockey now everybody acts like they're an expert about soccer

In hockey you use your entire body and the physicality of the sport not just the contact but skating up and down the ice that's why they trade out lines so often it's an exhausting game the hand eye coordination with his stick the speed of the puck the speed of the game constantly

And most importantly for this board the best players are white

Soccer fans have hated VAR since its inception. The rest of the world is just being introduced to it.

the new rule for this world cup where you have to play a man down if your player goes down injured has curtailed this a lot.

but I notice neither of your gif examples are from this world cup anyway

And it's pretty obvious that the flopping is a tactic used to delay the game, trying to get the refs to stop play

its not that the players are faking; they're trying to game the game

but 'merica

But I guess Lebron would be a great soccer player he's already got the flopping down

This is what sore losers say. Sure FIFA is corrupt, but blaming refs is such a classic loser move.

There were no explosive controversial calls in this game. Egypt quickly got back the goal that was taken away, then they shite their pants in front of the greatest player in history. Messi turned it up a notch or 2 in the final 20 minutes and Egypt could do nothing.
