Last week, Steve Sarkisian made some comments at an event about Texas Tech having a cupcake schedule...... "There's a team in our state that plays in another conference that has a schedule that I would argue if I played with our twos and our threes, we could go undefeated, and they'll probably make the CFP this year,"

quote:

Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire challenged Texas and Steve Sarkisian to schedule the Red Raiders in Week 1 after Sarkisian's disparaging comments about Texas Tech's schedule.

The Longhorns and Red Raiders both have Week 1 games scheduled against Texas State and Abilene Christian, respectively. However, McGuire -- a former Texas high school coach -- said that he's already spoken to Keith Patterson at ACU and GJ Kinne at Texas State, and both were willing to buy out of their games and play each other instead.

Tech seems to be serious about it and is supposedly willing to pay the buyout for both their game vs Abilene and UT's game vs Texas State so they can play the Longhorns in week 1, potentially at Jerry World.

I know its not gonna happen, but I gotta admire TTU's coach for throwing down the gauntlet and telling Sark to put his money where his mouth is.

Exactly. Give up a home game the week before Ohio State. No one would do that.

Easy to talk smack when you know there’s no way you’ll get called on it.

Zero reason for UT to agree to this and he knows it.

Sarkisian is cocky as hell and arrogant for really having a career staring on 3rd base and his past transgressions...

Horns have had the softest SEC schedule imaginable and Sark thinks he’s in a position to run that cocksucker of his

These are UT opponents last year conference record.

Texas State 3-5
UTSA 4-4
Tennessee 4-4
Florida 2-6
MS State 1-7
Arkansas 0-8

What a garbage arse schedule. Not even gonna look up Techs schedule but you can’t be talking shite when you have a schedule like this lol.

Why are you leaving off 7-1 Georgia, 7-1 Texas A&M, 6-2 Oklahoma, and 6-2 Vanderbilt, and 9-0 Ohio State?

We also didn't even play Tennessee.

Fair point about not playing Tennessee. My frick up.

But my point stands. Stop trying to talk shite when your schedule isn’t that good.

Every team has like 4 tough games and that’s it. You can argue for and against every team.

Again not trying to say someone’s schedule is tougher than the other I’m just saying stop trying to act like you’re tougher than everyone else.

Bringing up Vanderbilt is just as bad as me saying y'all played Tennessee lol.

You're the one using conference records as a measure of strength of schedule, as if all conferences are equal. They obviously aren't, which was Sark's entire point.

Texas Tech had zero hard games. Until Oregon.

Sagarin SOS ranking for Texas Tech was #62, after playing #4 Oregon in the playoffs. That is dogshit. Texas's was #20. That's average, sure. It doesn't mean Sark is wrong. If the head coach of Alabama (SOS #2) had said it, it wouldn't be any more right.

What do you define as a “hard game” ?

AGAIN I’m not saying one schedule is better than the other I’m just saying that Sark acting like he’s some bad arse and has some great schedule is retarded.

Funny how Texas tech claims they want Texas and will pay buy outs then at the end of the statement they say “in Lubbock or Arlington”. They won’t come to Austin despite that being larger than the other two stadiums.

Texas plays Ohio state in week 2 so playing Texas tech in a neutral site in week 1 ain’t gonna happen. Now if they offer a week zero, then maybe?

Unlikely though considering Texas screwed themselves last season with having Ohio State. Had they not scheduled that game, they make the CFP
