He was the only damn coach who voted for a 9 game conference schedule, was he not?

One more game for the gumps to screw others over with...no thanks. Until the obvious corruption in Birmingham is at least addressed, why give them more control?

programs rise and fall. Doesn't seem fair that programs that slip can still be propped up financially by being grandfathered into a division. This while other programs don't have a chance to prove themselves as belonging in the highest division.

Programs like Utah and TCU would never have a shot to compete while teams like UT would just stay put collecting cash.

The result is a less interesting college football landscape. There really wouldn't be big upsets anymore unless you consider shitty teams like Vandy winning an in conference game an upset.

conference expansion or realignment could still happen

How is that any different from what they're doing now?

Lots of schools would have trouble getting bowl eligible if the rules were changed.

That's ok

All P5 conferences play 9 conference games. No FCS games. At least one OOC P5 game.
Is that a 10 game schedule?

If it's "at least" 1 OOC P5 and no FCS, where are the other 2 games coming from?

i disagree, and i don't get the 1AA hate

a shitty 1A team and a 1AA team are negligible when playing a top 30 1A team

if there is no effective difference, why should we care?

If it were only P5 vs P5, there's no guarantee nor am I even sure it's feasible for all of the top teams to schedule 4 shitty 1A teams, so it seem like it would almost by default have elite teams playing tougher OOC games.

Kansas can only play 4 OOC games!!!

The only time Saban doesn't play "cupcakes" outside of the SEC he plays them on a neutral field in the South where it's pretty much a home game anyway for the fans. I can't remember the last time he traveled out West/Midwest/North to play a game. Outside of a postseason game.

You want to fix CFb eliminate the cupcake games. Make power 5 teams play a full. Schedule against all Power teams.

CFB needs an promotion/relegation system like European soccer. You want to keep in interesting late in the season for teams out of the championship race? It would be if they were playing to stay in their Power 5 conference and not be sent down to a lower tier conference.

No way in hell it'll ever happen but it would be entertaining as hell if it ever could.

we dont nee 55 bowl games anyway, so tired off seeing the rotorooter bowl and dental floss bowl, it turns the bowls into nothing but practice games for the cheer squads with so many 5-6 and even 6-5 teams in bowls

That would incite madness and make CFB so much fun to watch. I might actually give a shite about a Tuesday night game between Sunbelt teams

Cupcake games subsidize small programs. The lopsided revenue gets spread out.

yea and this has worked well for the 50 + years I've watched college football. but it seems few give a damn about the small programs anymore or about anybody but themselves.

the cupcake games play a vital role in todays college football because most schools play 13 to15 games. the team needs a breather and early easy games to break in new players (like the pros use pre season games). and the small schools get lots of money and often a very good experience. not all big school coaches try to score 70 points on the little guys.

They need to do what NCAAM has done and make FCS schools not count for your overall record and bowl hopes completely (not just the you can count one towards your hopes). This will discourage teams from scheduling more than perhaps 1 FCS school.
