He's got a point. But I don't think they should eliminate all cup cake games. Have one per schedule, just to give back to the smaller schools, and give them a chance to play the big boys. Upsets happen, and that's huge for small programs, plus NFL scouts like to see players measured up against big opponents, and a lot of great NFL players come from small programs. Like Kahlil Mack. Put on the map at Buffalo by his performance vs Ohio State. He was a one man wrecking crew. So I think you should decrease the amount of cupcakes but not eliminate them totallly from playing vs power 5 teams.

I'd rather watch the Cajuns fight for a playoff spot in a conference of local G5 teams(La Tech, Tulane, USM, etc.) than play New Mexico State for the rights to play in the NOLA Bowl again or the Beef O Brady's bowl. Merge the G5 with FBS or form a new division, let the P5 teams have their own deal.

How about the SEC gets with the program and just makes all these cupcake games at the beginning of the season instead of in fricking November?

I wish the SEC would do that

SEC does have some weak schedules

i think all teams should be required to play 10 P5 games per year; the other 2 games they can give out as charity to the scrub schools i suppose

Expanding the playoffs will have the exact opposite effect. It will make schools even more averse to taking risks. Face it, if school X is 12-0 beating up on tin cans there will be a large segment of opinion arguing, "How can you leave them out? They're undefeated! They deserve a place at the table. After all, Team Y has 2 losses."

Take out mid-majors.

5 large conferences with SOS deciding who they play next season like the NFL with inner conference teams (NFC south #2 plays NFC south #2).

8 team playoff-5 conference champs with 3 at larges.

He was outspoken about high tempo offense because his defensive units were struggling against it.

And he adjusted his philosophy after everyone laughed him off. Since that time he's 50-4 overall and 29-2 in conference.

Alabama has played the Cajuns before.

well before the infamous name change. I remember Alabama played in Lafayette even (1990)? My stepdad went to the game so that's how I can recall it.

Notice how Alabama dodged Troy and South Alabama next year though.

Make power 5 teams play a full. Schedule against all Power teams.

There has to be more equity in scheduling. One conference playing a 9 conference game schedule while another plays 8, with BYE weeks and a couple of cupcakes thrown in for added measure (and those BYE weeks always seem to happen before a tough opponent) is not equitable.

If all the teams have similar difficulty (or ease) in scheduling, a 4 team playoff makes good sense. Otherwise I'm in favor of doubling it, and giving more favor to teams that have more difficult schedules (more conference games, fewer non-P5 teams, bonus for no BYE week etc).
