between the magnitude of the wreck, the screens on the track blocking his body, the media being told to leave pit row, the (false) twitter reports from people at the race about the chest compressions, the look of his crew after walking away from the car, jeff gordon losing it on air, etc I thought for sure he was gone....

The car not being covered on the wrecker gave a little hope

I can't believe he is walking out of the hospital 36 hours later on his own power.

We never post to facebook or any other social media.

I wonder if this scare puts any doubt into that.

I saw that too. Hopefully this will convince them to rethink their original plans (and get whatever counseling they need to keep the marriage intact and family together).

Heck, he's liable to be back racing in 2 weeks.

Why is it, that in 2020, people feel like they’re entitled to personal medical information? Why did there have to be a timeline for that info to be released? Are you a part of his family?

OK, I guess I didn't word that correctly. I didn't say I was entitled though. You have to admit that MOST incidents like this usually send out more updates. Is it right? Is it better? Probably not on both counts. It just struck me odd that they WERE so quiet. It made me feel like it was not a good sign.

Ok, I’ll pose the same question again then:

Why?

Why were you shocked that they didn’t relay personal medical information IMMEDIATELY following the wreck?

Because it has become the norm to send out more updates.

I'll say the same thing again. I'm not saying we should expect it, but I guess we, or at least I, have become accustomed to it.

Also, I was not talking about IMMEDIATELY after the wreck. I never said that. In fact, most of the time they do not release info IMMEDIATELY because things can change significantly in that period.

Every picture I have ever seen of Ryan he is either at a race/pit area or with his daughters. It's corny to say but I think he has two things he loves in life - racing and his daughters
. I don’t follow racing at all. But if what you are saying is true I would shocked if he ever gets in a race car again.

Heck, there was some idiot in the Dale Earnhardt thread saying that we are entitled to see his autopsy photos.

I'm honestly and thoroughly confused at how 36 hours ago, he's involved in a crash so terrible, many people doubt he could survive, to less than 24 hours ago, the announcement is made that miraculously, he sustained no life-threatening injuries, though he remained in serious condition, to now, he's strutting out of the hospital like he just had a few stitches put in and needed an advil and some rest.

I think we should seriously consider that this is a body double. NASCAR knows that in this day and age they can't survive the death of a driver on primetime tv. One give away is he's not even taken out in a wheelchair. They make my wife ride out in a wheelchair 3 days after giving birth but Newman can stroll out on his own a couple days after being hit in the head by a car going 200mph? I hope I'm wrong but I've just got a feeling about this.

I'm trying to figure out what possibly could have happened. Was he just knocked out? You would think if it was just a concussion, they would say that.

Dude, it's been 2 days, they released nothing in those 2 days. It's not that anyone is entitled it's that it is not normal protocol for these events.

The family HAS to have some control over what information is released to the public and when, right?

Could it be possible that the only thing he received is just trauma from an accident that most people think is not survivable? I mean I think we’re all curious as to how he seems fine after it all. I know the engineers deserve 100% credit for the construction of these cars. But could it be possible that the only reason they can give is “just a miracle?”
