Ohio State has played Texas and Oklahoma recently. Going 2-2 against both teams. Those games were massive ratings. We have Texas coming back up again in 22'. You don't think that Texas and Oklahoma didn't look at those ratings and raise some eyebrows? We aren't strangers. A B1G 16 Conference with two 8 team divisions would work. This is about securing the future of the conference and your school, which adding Texas and Oklahoma does. Also, Texas and Oklahoma aren't coming and running anything. The B1G has EQUAL revenue sharing. Texas is probably sick of holding the rest of the conferences hand all the time. Ohio State's brand will be just fine! Everybody i have talked to yesterday and today loves this idea. This isn't something anybody is running away from. This is more than likely going to happen!! They are talking about it, because they are just giving people a few years notice so they can deal with it.

Opens the door for the Cultists to go home where they could possibly win football championships.

All a&m, all the time. Even on the MSB in a thread about UT and OU realignment scenarios

Texas is the reason revenue in the Big 12 is so disproportionate. They dominate that conference and are the reason other schools hate them so much (at least that's my understanding).

This whole thing comes down money. If you can make the case to these schools that they will make more money in the B1G and the other B1G schools will also make more money, it could happen (assuming of course they pass the educational requirements, which I am guessing they would).

Unless the political situation has changed, meaning that OU is no longer shackled to OK St and that UT is no longer shackled to Texas Tech and Baylor, I don't see it happening, at least not without the Big 10 Jettisoning some existing members like Maryland and Rutgers.

On an emotional level, I think Oklahoma could be a good fit in the Big 10 with Iowa and Nebraska if they also take Kansas and/or K-St.

I think Texas belongs in the same conference with A&M. A&M clearly has daddy issues with the way their fans have been dickriding Bama.

Those were strategic adds that increased the windfall for B1G members schools. They're not going anywhere.

Simply put, the B1G makes a shite ton of money. If the B1G can make Texas and Oklahoma more money by joining, then Texas and Oklahoma will be in the B1G. Its really not a crazy proposition.

Exactly. That's why I posted this about four posts up from you.

I've heard rumors that T Boone Pickens's clout at the Oklahoma State legislature was one of the forces that kept OU from bolting to the SEC during the last go-around of conference realignment. The SEC had already taken A&M and was looking to add another member. They flirted with OU, but politically, OU couldn't leave without OK St, so the SEC had to settle for Mizzou.

As an Ohio State fan, you really wanna go that route?

Just be another team in the Conference you helped build?

You want Texas and Oklahoma to make you an also-ran?

Wait

OSU brings in better ratings than both those schools. There is no conference where OSU is going to play 2nd fiddle to anyone. You could put them in the SEC/ACC/Pac 12 and the are immediately right at the top of the pecking order.

They are one of the 2-3 most powerful programs in the country (with Texas absolutely being another)

I agree with this, plus it would bring two old foes for Nebraska as well and strengthen the BIG west.
