Rodney Harrison has been an idiot since his Western days. He got thrown off the team there and that was nearly impossible when Randy Ball was coaching them.

Good for him to say what most of us have been thinking.

The fact is that Kaepernick, or any mixed-race individual, cannot pick and choose their ethnicity as a means of profiting off of various institutional advantages established for that particular group.

Barack Obama was labeled as black. Why? Because it made black voters feel as though they were finally being represented by "one of their own" in a presidential race. It all but ensured that nearly an entire voting demographic would pledge to the Democratic Party. And for many young white voters, he was the "hip" and "trendy" pick. It was a litmus test for race relations for many individuals.

But the fact remains that Obama, like Kaepernick, is black and white. For him to entirely deny or ignore half of his ancestral lineage is a betrayal to himself.

All mixed individuals, including European mutts like many white Americans, should embrace all of their heritage and cultural history. There's no reason to label yourself entirely as one or the other, because that's clearly a denial of genealogy.
