I know part of the purpose of the Olympics is the whole rah rah "we are the world, we are united" crap, but maybe it would make more sense in the future to host different events in different cities, even countries if they want it in poorer areas. It seems the strain would be less if Rio hosted a few events, Sao Paulo hosted some, Buenos Aires some, Lima some, etc.

Yes, but it's located in 5k to 10k feet of water making it very expensive to recover. Each well cost a million dollars a day just to drill and complete it taking as long as 90 days to finish a well. At $50 a barrel they are not making money.

Plus they are terrible at staying on budget and time. They will never see a profit from the oil they produce.

Same with Atlanta's. Their pool has actually upgraded since 1996 when they enclosed the pool entirely. Ga. Tech still hosts Zones, Sectionals, and ACCs there all the time. The IOC is fricking with these countries with their dumbass selections.

Reason #4,000,000 why the US should host every summer Olympics. We're essentially the only country in the world that can repurpose an Olympic sized 80,000 seat stadium into a heavily used, world class venue for nfl/College football games, concerts, etc.

We're also the only ones who can use the leftover swimming facilities. Every major town in America has a college that can use those. Plus the leftover 20,000 seat arena and expo-center are perfect for a city too.

Even Europe has a hard time with this because those stadiums are too big to host regular events like we can in the US. Just think, that London Stadium would be taken over by a college team if nothing else.

How many American Olympic cities have barron, facilities leftover? I can't think of any. Hell the freakin LA Coloseum is considered a treasure and it was built in the Damn 1920s and used in two Olympics and possibly a third in 2024.

Simply put, the corrupt IOC should be ashamed of themselves.... But 9f course we all know they truly don't give a shite as long as they get paid.

West Ham uses the Olympic Stadium I don't understand what your point is

Acting like the US is the only country that can host the Olympics is pretty dumb, not to mention there's only a handful of cities in the US that are fit to host it.

Also I could not give a single frick if these countries want to do third world shite and abandon the venues after the Olympics are gone. It has absolutely zero impact on me, and it's fun to watch Olympic events in different places around the world.

New York, LA, London, and Moscow are about it for being able to host and it not ruin the city. Any other examples?

Huh? When did New York host?

For Winter Games my guesses would be Switzerland, Colorado, Finland, and a handful of Canadian cities?

Colorado? Wtf...

Handful of Canadian cities? Have you bothered to look up where the Olympics have been?

this is true. Even in wealthier countries, for the most part, the olympic sites end up in ruins very shortly thereafter. If anyone cares to explore, Syndney's facilities are in ruins too. Honestly, very few Olympic sites aren't. Atlanta and London are the only ones I can think of that aren't. I know Atlanta turned Olympic village into student housing for Georgia State.

Park City's facilities are still in great shape

Where did I suggest Nepal should host the Olympics? I am definitely in favor of advanced countries hosting the Olympics...just wondering why that poster had no idea where they had been, yet feels the need to chime in on the subject.

And the cryptofascits at the IOC and FIFA are mostly the ones enriching themselves. It makes me extremely angry when they award these events to countries like Brazil I actively root against the US getting the Olympics and hope we never host the Olympics again. We could easily host the World Cup with minimal cost since the major cities have existing stadiums in place already. F those anti-American greedy scumbags at FIFA for putting the WC in Qatar.

Qatar hosting the World Cup is a legit human rights disaster. They have virtually unlimited money and a complete disregard for human suffering. There is really no end to what you can accomplish with those two things, but it will come at a staggering cost in both money and lives. The thing is, Qatar doesn't care about either cost.

Then you have even more cities having to build unsustainable facilities and upgrade their infrastructures.

We can just pick 10 cities. That's 40 years/rotation. It would be perfect. Each generation would get to experience it once. It wouldn't be too different from what the US's best olympic city, Los Angeles has done anyway. They had it in 1932, 1984 and now they're trying to get it again about 40 years later. And it's time to have it there again. It works. Just spitballing here but say LA, London, Japan/Korea (collab like the World Cup), Paris, Moscow, Berlin, Rome, Toronto, Sydney for the summer and then 10 others for the winter. Give a set of guidelines for them to maintain and review each city's inclusion at the midpoint between their host years (20 years after).

That dude would get so pissed during the Olympics and defend Rio like it was his wife and child. Even when a fricking foot washed up on the shore of the volleyball beach.

I only listed places I thought could handle an olympics. Regardless of whether they hosted one previously. Cities like New York would not be left in ruins by an olympics. Facilities built would have a use after the games.

Having winter games in obscure places where infrastructure must be created is asinine.
