Sam Gilbert deserves the credit for Worden’s success

UCLA and John Wooden won their 1st National Title in 1964 going 30-0.
No Sam Gilbert, no dominant big man in Walton or Alcindor.
Just an undersized squad that ran a rare full court press and fast-break.
But reduce your knowledge to 1 booster, it is a modern message board analysis, using the most convenient and dismissive definitions.

Another Big East regular season and Tournament Championship. First time in program history that St. John's has won back-to-back Big East Tournament Titles.
The man just wins wherever he goes
He has at least a decent case. He has the two titles (I give him credit for the L'ville title; don'e care what anyone says). Three teams to the FF, and he'll get SJ there, I believe. I think he can coach till he's 80. Doesn't need some huge NIL budget, either.

Remind me what he did in Boston.
With the Terriers he had an overall record of 91-51, and in 1982-83 led BU to their second appearance ever in the NCAA Tourney. He left as the winningest coach in Boston U history. All in all I'd say he did very well.

Pitino could come in 15 seconds.

Not even the best coach in Big East history (Jim Calhoun)
Posted on 3/16/26 at 7:08 am to Tiger in NY
Pitino has taken two different Big East programs to the Final Four already and has a decent shot to get a third this year, IMO.

Great coach but it’s weird how the old guard media would vilify Wade but protects him.

That's pretty good, but Calhoun took a no name program and won 3 national titles, setting the program up to be one of the top 5 programs in NCAA history. He is basically the Skip Bertman of college basketball.

I don’t know if he’s No. 1 but he’s absolutely on the short list.

Just a timeless coach.
The "Bathroom School" is suddenly flush with success! St John's and the czar of college basketball are the toast of New.York.City!

I can't believe we fired this man. It's been a total shitshow since. Take me back
