Should be 8 teams. 5 conference winners and then let the committee pick the remaining 3.

You sure are melting a lot about the one team that at least put up a bit of a fight in their playoff loss.

Maybe direct your attention to Clemson, Tennessee and Indiana.

The intent was always to make sure that the highest ranked G-5 champ would get a spot in the field.

Right, but there were never conference tie ins, so this season if it were 4 auto-bids Boise still would’ve got in over Clemson. They should’ve taken 2 auto-bids away because the Big12 “collapsed” too, it’s essentially a top tier G-5 conference.

I have zero problem with a 12 team playoff. The way it’s structured it’s essentially an 8 team playoff but there is a separate play-in tournament to get the 5-8 seeds.

How about NO. Who cares if they struggle from time to time. No one wants to see 5 conference teams replay it again.

Remove the G5 auto bid

Why? This game has come down to two missed FGs and a big penalty that negated a TD. Boise has out-gained Penn St on offense. They just can’t get out of their own way

And lower acc to 1 bid conference for playoffs. Really should contract them to 6 teams.

Thats what i always thought expansion should have been. Penn State, Texas, and Notre Dame would have been the 3 at-large spots this year. Nobody would have argued they didn’t deserve it….except Ohio State fans because they’d have been first team out.

Boise State is playing well, unlike SMU, Tennessee, Clemson and Indiana.

Tennessee was the one that shocked me, I really thought when we played them, it was going to be a lot closer.

Boise played far better than Indiana, SMU, or Tennessee

4th best Big10 Team who lost badly to the only 2 ranked teams they played, only played 1 of the top 6 Big 10 teams.

ACC Runner up who one only played one of the top 6 ACC teams, and lost to one of the two P4 teams they faced in OOC.

3rd place SEC Team who managed to only play 2 of the top 9 SEC teams. 1-1 against those two. Same can be said for Texas, who only played 2 of the top 9, losing to Georgia twice and beating A&M.

Boise State fought hard sure, but there were only 2 other teams in their conference that ended the regular season with a winning record, and Boise didn't play one of them.

Clemson lost 3 games including 2 to Louisville and South Carolina, who weren't playoff quality teams. I can overlook a loss to UGA. Either way, they really had no business being in the top 12, but they won their conference and that has to mean something.

Scheduling in CFB is all messed up, and none of these teams deserved to be here at all. None of these teams had been challenged to the same level that some other teams are. There's no way you should be playing in a conference and manage to not play the top quarter of the better teams in the conference. And it happened 3 times in 3 different conferences. There are just too many teams in the super conferences to be able to balance scheduling.

The playoffs still isn't quite right yet...12 teams is too many, because there weren't a 9-12 team that truly deserved to be here. 8 is the perfect number. The G5 should have their own 8 team playoff where those teams can actually be competitive, and then the P4 have their own 8 team playoff, and be done with it.

Just my opinions which obviously don't mean shite

I agree.

We never had these blowout problems when it was only four teams and the G5 was kept out of the playoff.

The only tweak I’d make to the current system is to play at the lower seed’s home stadium and reseed like the NFL. Championship would be neutral site. Does Penn State beat Boise like that on the blue turf?

This just makes no sense. We gonna reward weaker teams with home games?

So that super deserving teams that finished 4th in their conference and went 9-3 with a pair of losses to 6-6 teams (including one that was a blowout) can get in

Boise proved a G5 team is capable of being competitive. If they don’t miss 2 FG’s and have a crucial TD wiped off the board by a penalty, that game would’ve been down to the wire. And they started the season by going into Autzen and Oregon needed a walk off FG to win.
