I think his line's inability to stop Denver's pass rush was more important.

Yeah, I think people are looking way too much into it from a "heart" standpoint.

I mean, the guy who jumps on the ball is hardly ever the one who recovers it. Should Cam have jumped on it? In hindsight, yes. I still think people are making too much of a deal of it.

What's your point? Other players are converging on it as he'd be falling on it.

the point is that he had the best opportunity to recover it and instead of going after it, he backed away

he had the best position

I think it's pretty obvious he was trying to reposition to recover once it came free.

I thought he was just avoiding getting his ankles demolished, which is a natural reaction to a few 300 lb guys diving at your feet. Yeah he could've dove head first, but the way he was approaching the ball feet first wasn't an optimal position for that. It seemed like a natural jump back, and looks worse in slow motion.

I think he fully intended to go in after the ball. Either 1 of 2 things happened IMHO.

1. He expected the ball to squirt out (which it did) and tried to position himself accordingly.

2. He realized he had about 3-4 people coming straight at him low. If he had continued to go for the ball its very likely the group of people could have hit him low and caused him significant injury. Notice the way his lower body jumped back similar to when a runner is trying to avoid a tackle coming in low.

Yeah I'm not saying he made the right decision, I'm saying he made a football decision that looked bad.

He's a wuss. All his blustering and bravado is to cover up a very insecure homosexual/bisexual man.

I can't stand him, but the amount of shite he's getting from haters about this was already tiresome before the game ended.

He will forever have teammates silently wondering about his commitment to win.

you have to wonder if the appearance is correct.

I have considered your suggestion that maybe Cam thought that he'd stay away from what he thought was his own teammate lunging for the loose ball.

IMHO, the appearance that he was actually being selfish and that he made a punk move are the correct conclusions. The reason for this is that at the time he quit on the play, a Bronco was the closest man to the ball.
