Apparently there were multiple B10 schools who voted to kick Nebraska out too. That's cold.
They always want to talk out of both sides of their mouth. Kinda like Aggie.
Aggie likes to talk about being so rich but then went cheap on this hire.
Big ten likes to talk about how their athletic conference is so in tune with the academic side but they voted out a new member from the AAU near immediately after joining and then when push came to shove they passed on the number 3 ranked institution in the country with an endowment of 36.5 billion dollars and yearly external research grants of 1.82 billion dollars for the number 98 ranked university with an endowment of 1.4 billion and external research grants of 180 million dollars.
When confronted with facts it’s absurd to pretend it’s about anything other than TV football eyeballs and that alone. Basketball doesn’t even matter in any of this. It’s only football money.

Well, they'd be a better fit in the Big Ten than the handful of California schools.

Question for FSU fans regarding conference realignment.
Because the B1G isn't close to being done expanding...and neither is the SEC for that matter. But the next expansion for the B1G will be ACC schools. Florida St, Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, Miami and Notre Dame...yes Notre Dame.
The B1G will then break into Divisions again.
B1G EAST:
Penn State
Rutgers
Maryland
Virginia
North Carolina
Duke
Florida State
Miami
B1G CENTRAL:
Ohio State
Michigan
Notre Dame
Michigan State
Indiana
Purdue
Illinois
Northwestern
B1G WEST:
Iowa
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Nebraska
USC
UCLA
Oregon
Washington
The B1G media deal has an "ESCALATOR CLAUSE" that specifically states that if the B1G expands further, it Would go from $7 billion to $10 billion over Ten years. Its already been negotiated and the money IS there. Florida State knows this and wants out of the ACC...ASAP!! The SEC cannot offer them the money that the B1G can...and not just in terms of Football money...but the research money the B1G gets absolutely DWARFS the SEC.

If our government gets passed the legislation to turn the big boys into a subdivision of college football it may happen very, very soon.

In this scenario, the SEC would then expand and add Clemson, Georgia Tech, NC State and Virginia Tech...it remains to be seen if they would go after schools like Wake Forest or even a school like Louisville? But when the dust settles...we will be in the "CFP TOP 48" era...with the B1G and SEC both at 24 members. 6 division winners between the two get automatic bids to the CFP. Then 6 at large bids remain...

Yep, this can't be stated enough.
The conference now has 10 of the top 30 R&D spenders in the country. It's an even larger share if you factor out universities that aren't realistic options for a major athletic conference.
"But they kicked Nebraska out of the AAU!!!@!" Well...no fricking shite.

Nice copium when discussing athletic conferences.
The Big Ten was founded as an academic research consortium. The endowments of the institutions dwarf that of the SEC schools. Indeed, academics are a much considered component when the league expands. You will not see them add great athletic programs in huge media markets without academic and research strength.
quote:
You lose all moral high ground about “caring about academics” when you force student athletes in Los Angeles to fly to New Jersey for a volleyball match.
The volleyball team will be wealthier than ever in this new world order. And these programs all have academic support to sustain a small amount of travel.

If fsu fans truly prefer the big 10 to the SEC then I'm glad they got left out

Obviously its an easier route to a playoff to play in the big10.
Big 10 academics make it an easier argument
And i think having in state Florida in the SEC is a valid reason for them to move to the big 10. FSU needs to offer something different to not become second banana in the state. Same reason the fAggies left the big 12.

They just stick out like a sore thumb. Ohio St would make more sense than Mizzou.

It would be incredible if the B10 took Miami (AAU member) over FSU.

In a lot of ways, Ohio State would be a good fit in the SEC.
2020 and the conference canceling the season made a lot of people wonder...

Ohio state would be a fit in the SEC only in the realm of their desire to compete for national championships in Football. Culturally, there is no appeal.
The only people wondering in 2020 were pissed off fans and blowhards. Ohio state is the flagship anchor of the most valuable league in college and their research affiliations with neighboring schools would have their administrators laugh anyone out of the room for suggesting they affiliate their university with the likes of broke arse endowments like Mississippi State, LSU, Ole Miss, and Alabama just to play football.

I disagree.
I spent the first half of my life in Ohio and most of the second half living in SEC country. The biggest parts of my family live in Ohio and Alabama.
I didn't say it was something that is a realistic possibility. But, pretending that Ohio State wouldn't fit in with the SEC is silly. Culturally, we're more alike than different.

BS. The state of Ohio worships football. Unlike Missouri where baseball is #1.

Thanks for responding but it’s okay. DisplacedBuckeye has used his projections and mental gymnastics to speak for your fanbase. Turns out that while you may feel this way you are actually wrong
