More super bowls more yards more tds, less ints.

The peak Qb play of Rodgers, Brees, manning, and Brady in early 2010s are not even matched in today's Qb play.
2010-2013 averages
Manning (excluding 2011 when he didn't play)
67.7%
4945 yds
42 TDs
13 INTs
Brees
67.7%
5109 yds
40 Tds
17 INTs
Rodgers (excluding 2013 when he missed almost half the season)
67.1%
4287 yds
37 TDs
8 INTs
Brady
63.6%
4576 yds
34 TDs
9 INTs
Now let's compare them to the top Qbs this year, and mind you most of these dudes are young and you're comparing them to first ballot HOF QBs
Burrow
70.6%
4918 yds
43 TDs
9 INTs
Goff
72.4%
4629 yds
37 TDs
12 INT
Mayfield
71.4%
4500 yds
41 TDs
16 INTs
Darnold
66.2%
4319 yds
35 TDs
12 INTs
Jackson
66.7%
4172 yds
42 TDs
4 INTs
Mahomes
67.5%
3928 yds
26 TDs
11 INTs
Allen
63.6%
3731 yds
28 TDs
6 INTs
Not really seeing where the QBs of today aren't matching the output from QBs of the early 2010s, especially when you take into account what Allen and Jackson do on the ground, something most of the dudes in the 2010s never did.

He played quarterback. His passing numbers are very relevant. The reason I brought up Justin fields is because he’s another quarterback that can’t throw but can run. The post is literally about comparing quarterbacks from then to now lol.
Vick gets talked about like he’s similarly elite to Lamar Jackson but gets absolutely blown out of the water by Lamar in every way. Fields is a better comparison, since that’s the point of this post.

and a major part of Vick playing QB was his dual threat ability.

Did you not literally just finish saying comparing raw stats from 2 different eras was dumb? Which is it
Posted on 1/13/25 at 3:48 pm to collegefootballisbroken
We just need Trev Lawrence, CJ, Caleb, Bryce, Beaux, Penix, and Drake to solidify the next step and we'd be right back where we were in the late 2000's and early 2010s
Mahomes, Allen, @Joeyb, Lamar, Love, Dakota, Jayden, Darnold, @thatkidjayden, and maybe Kyler and Baker are all Purdy good

He wasn’t dual threat. He was a threat to run.

I don’t think 2010-2013 and now is any different or friendlier for QB numbers

Show me where Bree’s/manning/rodgers/brady had more of this than burrow/allen/lamar/mahomes

Eli wasn’t elite. Ryan had like one elite year. Big Ben was really good but never top 3. Rivers wasn’t even as good as Big Ben. Flacco had one elite playoff run.
This generation is just as good. It’s just Mahomes hasn’t allowed any one else to win anything.

someone literally tried to do just that. I responded to it. And even doing that, he didn't really carry his argument

Vicks Philly years were 2010-2013. Arguably the best passing seasons of his career, still abysmal outside of 2010. He was what many people erroneously tried to call Lamar Jackson early in his career. A running back playing QB.

I agree with you. I understand what lsuffball is trying to say, but the raw qb totals from 2010 to now are fine to compare. The changes haven’t been great enough at the macro level to where they aren’t comparable
I’d say 2010 is right when it makes since to say the comparison is the same

over those 4 seasons he averaged almost 240 ypg passing and completed ~60% of his passes at 7.7 ypa. That's not abysmal my dude.
His average per 17 games, what players are playing now, was 4000 yards, 23 TDs and 13 INTs while also averaging, per 17 games, 770 yards rushing and 5 TDs. I'm not comparing him to what Lamar is doing now. Lamar is one of, if not the best QB in the NFL. I never once have said Vick was the best QB in the NFL at any point in his career.
And sure maybe he was overrated, but you're basically saying he's no better than what Fields is today compared to his peers which is crazy talk.

Mike Vick was referenced as an elite QB in this thread which is what I responded to. I get why you’re using per game numbers, but I don’t think the fact that he only played 10 games per year over that span is a good thing either. I also do think sub 60 completion and less than 2 tds per int is pretty abysmal, we can agree to disagree on that.
And I just think Fields is a better comparison than Lamar. Where exactly in the hierarchy he fell can obviously be debated. What’s hard to make an argument against is that he was not a good passer of the football.

Singular season numbers (also 17 game seasons vs their 16 plays a small role in an extra 200-300 yard and then 2-3 tds. Those 4 had strung multiple elite years, while some of these 'elite' QBs have similar type of career numbers to guys like Matt Ryan and Philip rivers.

I'm not sure the difference isn't the quarterbacks, it's the offensive lines.
