Pretty sure Louisiana took care of the problem by forcing them to dominate their actual classification.

and they effed up the new orleans catholic league in the process.

Correct, and that was a much greater crime that I will never forgive.

How did the LHSAA mess that up?

when teams had to voted on to be able to play up, none of the smaller catholic league schools were allowed to play up and be in that 5A district. Not all the schools were big enough to remain in 5a.

i love how rex posts a thread, gets owned, and runs away

and alos, outside of new orleans, nobody gives a shite about the new orleans catholic league. the lhsaa is constantly stirring up the 1 and 2 5a districts, nobody really cares

sophandrus.. you are spot on.. forcing ECA and JC to play at their enrollment level is ..

SHAMEFUL

not for what it does them - but for what it does the teams that have to deal with them..

and thats with going from the old 2A in a 4 class system to 4A in a 5 class system

Yep. They have the talent to play up, so let them.

Enrollment should be a GUIDELINE, not a set in stone, immutable law.

It is a bit unfair how public schools are limited to the area but private schools can lure kids from all surrounding areas and any hood in the city.

Those kids still have to find a way to pay.

If it were just the "recruiting" aspect of things, then why isn't, say, St. Aug better than what they are now?

OC won state in baseball in 08 and football in 2000.. so.. that is fairly recent No?

if a school has 5 titles in 10 years.. they are not playing in the right class.. period..

They smashed them because Upper Arlington isn't on the same level as the #1 school in Ohio, let alone the entire country. Public v Private makes no difference here. And in Ohio they are pretty equal...

Why public schools willingly set themselves up as punching bags for teams with such an unfair competitive advantage is beyond me.

well in this case an above average Ohio HS team got to:

1) play the #1 team in the country

2) play in the Horseshoe at tOSU

3) play live in front of a national TV audience on ESPN

4) make a lot of money for their program with a large gate

that's why

this is a huge problem in ohio high school basketball, football not so much, although the big public schools "recruit" the better players to go to school there via open enrollment, etc.

They may have won baseball in 08 but I was in high school in 00 and we played them in football I don't think thats accurate let me check. I know they made the finals in 05.

I think one of you is talking about Ouchita Christian, and one of you is talking about Opelousas Catholic.
