The catholic league and the whole greater new orleans area are way over-rated when it comes to high school football. Acadiana has beaten Rummel(last year), Shaw(99 when they were still in 5-A), Catholic-BR(just throwing them in there since they are an overrated private school), Hahnville (twice), ESJ (thrice), Covington, John Ehret (twice). the only team from the greater new orleans area they have lost to in the playoffs is Destrehan, which is about all New Orleans has going for it besides Shaw/john curtis. Nothing] compares to the lafayette-Lake Charles district, best in the state!

this is two different districts now, and neither one is as good as the river parishes district, or West Monroes district.

No doubt. Add Lutcher, St James and West St John. No area is as competive as the River Parishes.

I see no evidence that any team in the catholic league would have been able to compete with WM or ECA even with the Curtis kids

seriously??

most of Curtis kids come from Jeff parish...Metairie, Kenner, Harahan....if they wanted a private education as well as be a part of a good football program, they would probably go to Rummel.

Rummel.

I agree LE. Rummel is hurt more by Curtis than any other school. EJ would be second.

Dunham won 1A in 2005. But 1A has a lot of private schools I would imagine.

South Plaquemine will dominate 1-A for the foreseeable future.

yeah, and they're not really hurting, per say...

I cant even count how many district championships they've had the last 10 years...prob 6-7....and at least 3 semi final appearances, maybe 4....2 were against ECA, both blow outs Another time they lost to ECA early who ended up being state runner ups. Rummel gave them a better game then anyone but Destrehan that year. But I would put those 2 ECA teams against any team in the state the last 25 years. They were loaded. Rummel lost. Big deal. I know another lost came to Sulphur, which was disappointing, but that Rummel team over achieved as it was.

Does anyone know how many states actually split up the private and public schools? I know of Mississippi off the top of my head, as several Louisiana private schools opt to play in MAIS (formerly MPSA).

South Carolina does and it's a good thing too. Only one private school plays in the SCHSL that I know of and they are average at the AA level. We have SCISA for all the teams with nothing but spoiled upper middle class white boys who don't know shite about the game.
