The NBA was still much more of a center driven league back then. The hype for Olajuwon and Bowie drowned out any Jordan hype.

Ichiro met the hype, but I don’t think this justifies it. Plenty of players have come over from Japan and played very well right away. It probably has nothing to do with the fact that they played pro in Japan.

I'd say Adrian Peterson largely lived up to his high school and college hype.
Julius Peppers had major hype coming out of college, but maybe not quite at the Manning/Bush level. He has had a great pro career.
Calvin Johnson had tremendous hype coming out of GT. He certainly lived up to it.
In hockey, Ovechkin and Crosby probably deserve a nod.

How many GM’s would not take 2 championships from any top draft pick?
He gets shite on a lot and mostly deserved, but at the end of the day he won 2 Super Bowls.
