That's the irony of it all.

Most professional athletes in Basketball/football were born with athletic/physical privilege. Ability to run, jump, etc. Obviously most have worked on it their whole lives, but there are plenty of people that would never have those abilities no matter how hard they work.

Plus, due to their amazing physical gifts many of them have had opportunities from a young age that their neighborhood peers didn't have.

And often were given more privileges that most students didn't have in school. Undeserved passing grades, misconduct overlooked or given minor punishments, money under the table, special study halls and tutoring.

Yet they still complain about "mistreatment". No wonder the public is largely growing disenchanted with sports.

So a well off politician can never speak up on behalf of his constituents who may not be very well off financially?

Are you familiar with the idea of speaking out on behalf of others?

Or nah?

Is it “ironic”?

This is so dumb.

Look, there's a lot of athletes put there that use the "we have it bad" line of thought but the vast majority are using their fame/wealth for issues they believe, now if their belief is misguided or not is a different topic. But this line that they can't speak because they have a lot of money is a terrible take.

Clearly athletes are supposed to pull the ladder up after them.

They shouldn’t prop us the false premise of victimhood that contradicts the data and science.

This is why all the talk of privilege is pointless and will prove unfruitful. Some people are simply born into more advantageous situations, financially or physically, and there is nothing the government or champions of social justice can do to regulate that. Tom Brady and Gisele's kids will grow-up to be worlds better looking and financially secure than me, and that's just the way shite is. I can just accept it or I can whine about it incessantly, but the one thing I can't do is change it. Not everyone will get to bang cheerleaders, drive Italian sports cars, or be president in this life. People can rise-up from nothing and attain wealth, but trying to police what others have never made sense to me. You play the hand you're dealt.

Being a pro athlete doesn’t mean you’re incapable of raising valid concerns. Though I agree that guys like Kyrie and lebron calling themselves oppressed, or hunted, or slaves is completely ridiculous
