I think this is certainly something to consider. Usually in August all you have is baseball but with the NBA and NHL both in the middle of their playoffs we will certainly see a downturn.

Of course this will lead to Trumpkins declaring victory.

Slight thread hi jack but how do ratings work? Do you have to tune in for a certain amount of time to get counted? What if you only tune in for a few minutes at the beginning or end?

Trump wants football to start back. I’m personally not protesting anything, just lost interest.

Also, I know everybody hates preseason games but preseason helps tremendously with the buildup and anticipation for the start of the NFL regular season. Due to the lack of a preseason, how many people have no idea that the NFL is even starting their season tonight? A lot, I bet.

Yeah it’s weird. Definitely doesn’t have the hype of previous seasons and it’s a combination of things most likely. No preseason, little to no fans, sjw commentary, people have found other things to do with time, etc

I think they will be sky fricking high at first. But I bet lots of people tune out after being bombarded with SJW/BLM messaging.

I'm a little conflicted. We're watching and for some reason my wife is really eager to have a football night. Seems like a lot of people we know (conservatives included) are watching.

I think the temperature around the NFL has cooled off a bit in recent weeks, so if they were able to kick off tonight with some mild show of protest mixed with a show of unity, I think it'd probably do the NFL a ton of favors and bring a lot of people back into the fold. Of course, if they immediately start with over the top SJW stuff and the commentators do as well, it'll plummet. My guess is that the initial stuff won't be TOO bad, but they'll force feed it to us in every game and every week and people will dig in their heels.

All that said, it's obvious the interest is down. Tons of people (including me) have seen a drop in interest in fantasy, and I agree on the lack of bars/preseason to drive interest.
