That should actually help ratings in terms of number of viewers

Bar & restaurants started being included in the ratings fairly recently, I believe it was in 2019

Bars in GA are open. How many viewers does each bar get? In other words, how will they adjust the ratings for limited capacity.

All the bars that are opened will still be showing the games. So it's that just based on the number of TV showing the games at the particular location. Genuinely don't understand how that works.

2020 - 15.7 million viewers.

Just shows how many cucks there are in the U.S. that have no life outside of watching NFL on TV.

think of all the bar rooms and restaurants closed across the country. I go with lower
What? If a bar has 150 people in it and 30 TVs the bar being closed will send those 150 people home to watch on their 75+ TVs. The rating should go up.

I say under 14 million viewers. This matchup isn't really very appealing to me.

It's the superbowl champs plus two high profile QBs. It should definitely do better than last year. But, we'll see.

But is 1 bar = 1 viewer?

So if bars are closed, the 30 people that wouldve been in there watching will now each count as 1 viewer at their house if they watch?

The PPM device, which panelists carry with them, will allow Nielsen to measure television viewing in places like restaurants, bars, airports and waiting rooms. Nielsen will rely on data from more than 75,000 PPM panelists located in 44 local markets, which the company can use to project out-of-home viewing in more than half of the U.S. population.

They have a way to measure. So whether someone is watching at home
Or at a bar will be no difference in ratings. Where the ratings are hurt is people who would go to a bar for social reasons or to drink who would be counted as viewers of the game who would not be watching at home.

So bars being closed would hurt ratings overall.

13 million

Bars being closed will a big part but you can’t ignore people not watching specifically because of the politics and lecturing

It just shows how you and everyone else actually has boycotted ESPN We arent seeing Ads because we arent watching ESPN and other sports networks

I've watched the same amount of ESPN this year as I have most years in recent times, which is live sports only. I had forgotten about NFL starting until a friend mentioned it last weekend.

I think it's more because of the lack of preseason and delayed/weird start to CFB. Whether you watch preseason or not, you know it's going on and once it's done, the season starts. It's kinda the primer that gets everyone ready.

Similarly, the first weekend of CFB before the NFL kicks off has the same effect. You watch a full slate of games Saturday then notice the glaring missing piece come Sunday when there's no noon kickoff.

You want it to be about boycotting ESPN so your political viewpoints are validated.

I don't plan on missing the games but do you truly think that all of this in your face aggressive politicization in sports won't have a negative consequence on viewership? That is absurd.

ESPN advertises for Thursday games on NBC?

The NFL has made all their broadcast partners advertise for every time slot on every network so yes, ESPN advertises for NBC TNF just like NBC, CBS, and Fox advertise for MNF.

I didn't say that.

I'm saying there are other explanations for not knowing NFL started tonight than "we've successfully boycotted ESPN!"

NBA ratings have shown that whether it's because of politics, covid, whatever, only the diehards are watching. There will be a big drop tonight and over the weekend.

What sports fan doesn't know the NFL is kicking off tonight? It's not even a delayed start. This date has been known for a while.

I didn't say it was a delayed start.

And I know the date was set a long time ago because I just finally cancelled my hotels in BR and Nola for UT-LSU and Brady-Saints.

I'm saying it completely slipped my mind up until last Saturday because of no preseason to follow and the half assed first CFB weekend. It's not because I watched the same non existent amount of ESPN non game programming.
