2019-22 million viewers, 15.3 overnight rating

2018-18.98 million viewers, 13.4 overnight rating

Im thinking a 27% reduction in viewers for an audience of 16 million

Time to put up or shut up MSB

eta

Numbers are in, 16.4 million viewers

Down 25.5% from last year

ETA 2:

I won’t be watching, and I don’t care what the ratings are.

That should actually help ratings in terms of number of viewers

This is true in my experience as well. Had a water cooler talk this morning at work and I was the only guy (all football fans) out of 6 or 7 that knew the games were starting tonight. My wife is also a big football fan and didn't know.

I think they've done a poor job of advertising somehow. Sunday will pick up some big ratings I have to think.

I know I'm not missing a snap of the Bengals game

ETA:

15 million

They’ll definitely be down

It just won’t matter very much in the long run

I mean, has the NFL just done a piss poor job of advertising the start of the season?

I feel like most years we're inundated with NFL ads the weeks leading up. Maybe it's because I stopped watching ESPN because I don't feel like watching NBA highlights or discussion.

The anti protest will crowd will beat their chest when the ratings are lower but there is zero hype around the season starting. With no pre-season to build things up today is “oh yeah football starts”.

There will be a lot of eyes on the game tonight because it’s the first game of a season many thought wouldn’t happen, far and away the biggest sporting event since the super bowl, and many want to see exactly what the NFL is going to do re: BLM, social justice, etc.

I’m not going to watch, not because I’m boycotting, but because IDGAF about either of these teams.
