That’s pretty damn solid value out of a #1 pick.

Morant has been projected as a top 3 pick before the tournament.

I'm aware. I'm talking about OP deciding that he should be picked ahead of Zion because he probably just watched Morant play for the first time yesterday.

Griffin averaged over 20 points per game for his career and nine rebounds, averaging over four assists per game.

Can we really expect more out of Zion?
YES. better defense.
a little better outside shooting.

Zion is not the rebounder that some other NBA guys were in college.

Because Zion seems like a generational player. You can't pass on that.

Uh. Giannis is also 6’11
Uhh, Zion will be the 2nd heaviest player in the league and arguably the biggest physical freak.

quote:

Im not convinced Zion has nearly the success in the post he has had in college.
Well of course, no one does. But name me all the players who Zion will NOT be able to bully around? That list, it would be very small

quote:

Then you combine that with his mediocre jump shooting.
Can improve, see any # of NBA players who have done this

quote:

You aren’t a shitty 3ball shooter if you can make the kinda juked step back he hit.
I mean, he shoots like Shawn Marion has has some Ben Simmons in him, in that there are concerns that he is shooting with his off hand. Not making 1 to 1 comparisons, just pointing out those couple of things are a pretty darn big concern IMO. Also, as was posted, you realize Zion is a more efficient 3pt shooter as a freshman than Morant was?

Blake never won shite.
Cool, sounds like your Mavs should skip Zion and Ja and start looking for the next 2 time champ Joel Anthony then.

quote:

Giannis is 6’11 and can play the post. Zion is 6’7 lmao
And physically bigger and stronger than every player in the NBA...already.

quote:

Because he attempts less than two per game. You really think a dude that shoots a 50% more valuable shot only twice a game is going to magically start shooting or making 3-4 a night against better defense?

See Blake Griffin for your answer

quote:

How many elite wing players in the NBA on winning teams are shooting less than two three-point shots a night?

See GIannis. He attempts 2.7 per game, but he's awful at it.

quote:

Zion is shooting like 75% within the arc on like 9-10 attempts per game. That is not how a wing player plays.

lol

Like I said, I think he will almost certainly at the very least be a Blake like player.

But I also think Morant, if he reaches his potential which isn’t guaranteed, could be pre-ACL Derrick Rose, but could also be a Tyreke Evans type
Wait, wait wait....you think the worst Zion will be is at least Blake Griffin and the low end for Ja is Tyreke Evans but are arguing for Morant? What in the world...

What do you think is the high end for Zion?

Zion is 6'6" not 6'7".

He will have a very good career.

But anyone who thinks he is light years ahead of Morant is a fool. And that is being nice.

Both are worthy and interchangeable.

Seen them both all year long and both have been superb.

Morant fits what Dallas needs, at least imo, more than Zion.

You have Luka Doncic. Have people in Dallas already given up on this guy as the PG of the future for them?

Add in anyone thinking that because Zion weights a lot and is Superman, he will have good post games. I’m sorry. At 6’6. No. He’s going to struggle like he hasn’t in the college game. But I also think he’s gong to have to shed weight to actually play a wing position successfully and have a long career.

He will have to shed weight and he also will have to add a highly efficient jump shot from 15 feet out.

I hope he succeeds as it only helps the game. Kid could be special in the league.

Zion is heavier than ever NBA player except Boban, as well as as athletically gifted as any NBA player. He's probably the strongest player in the NBA, and he's 19.

Oh really? Cause you're the same guy that said this 1 page ago:

But, yes, Morant is easily the top player in the draft.

But, Morant is the obvious number one in todays NBA

It is a no brainer

Why would he have to do that when that shot is outdated?

311 misunderstands the difference between worth 2 and worth 3.
While 2 is less it's not nothing.

Reserve outdated for the underhand free throw and the Indiana free throw.

2 points is great.
The questions revolve around percentages.

Durant and others make a Living in big games hitting 8 and 12 footers.

If you can get a 5 foot jump hook and make it like clockwork, it's worth say, 1.70 points if you hit 85%. Plus you can take a foul and still hit it.
That's better than 40% of 3, 1.20, eh?.

WTF?

You the guy who goes into the gym and starts jacking 3's before ever getting to the layup drills!!

Hey guy, start shooting from 25 ft, dont bother practicing from 15 out first.

Kind of like the guy working at old SEARS Robuck and works in Lawn and Garden and doesnt know shite about the inventory immediately next to his area.

Why round your game? Just practice a couple things.

Shel. This board never ceases to stop being fricking stupid.

You could have just told me you haven't watched the NBA since the 1990s, would have been much easier and quicker for you to type out.

This guy thinks the 15 footer is at the pinnacle of the NBA right now.

Best part of this GIF is the bench guy rolling the tape before Zion ever even jumps.

Averaged.

You guys are talking about Blake like he's dead, done, and finished, rather than playing at a borderline All NBA level.

He's a 25/8/6 guy who has a higher PER than Simmons, Doncic, Westbrook, Butler, etc.

I'm not a fan, but this entire discussion leaves me shaking my head.

Might have done so.
Looked solid in ncaas.
Opened with a few in a row.

They all have to re tool to the deeper NBA three.
