It blows my mind. You would think it would be a 5 second statement from a coach to his players to completely eradicate this

Desean Jackson did that shite vs the Cowboys on a Monday night game years ago

I saw Desean do it in a HS All-American game (Army A.A.??) after a QB Mark Sanchez pass. When Desean did it later in the pro's, you'da thunk he'd already learned his lesson.

One of our dipshits did it against Tennessee in 2017 late in the game. No one remembers because Flippy Franks bailed us out with a hail mary at the end.

His was unintentional and a fumble out of the end zone. 8 yo me was screaming at the TV for the call but no replay at the time.

Just revert back to the rugby rules that require you to TOUCH the ball DOWN in the end zone.

Shout out to TM7 doing it vs Georgia and it not getting called

That one didn't bother me because the ref was signalling touchdown and TM7 just flipped the ball to him. If it was anyone's fault it was the refs for calling the touchdown too early.

The NFL is kind of a joke in this way and other ways.

Yep. You can't even correct the players anymore.

In this game, coaches get fired for losing, and each game counts. Some guy showboats near the End Zone and fumbles, causing a loss, and the Coach is supposed to keep his temper? Even Jesus would struggle to keep His temper in that situation.

If I was Arizona, I'd cut his arse immediately and tell him to exit the stadium.
I don't understand how Gannon got publicly fined by his own team for his conduct. Perhaps some form of apology was appropriate because of how he reacted, but he certainly was justified in reacting in the moment. The organization showed itself to be soft.

Touchdowns are precious to the team, but some players are more focused on their own glory. Dropping the ball ASAP somehow is desirable. It's not the first time he's scored a TD in his life; surely he knows what makes a touchdown count. No one should feel bad for him because he did it.

I imagine the fine was because he hit him, but really all he did was pop his pads a little. It was pretty minor but I'm guessing the organization didn't care.

While probably a bit of an overgeneralization, it's hard to say this is wrong. It happens because the players is so focused on the post-TD celebration/antics that they disregard actually scoring the TD

Now the HC has been fined $100k for, justifiably, losing his mind on the player after the fumble. Had he scored, Arizona would have increased its lead to 28-6 with ~12:00 left in the game. Instead, they blow a TD and end up losing 22-21. Even though I'm certain Gannon isn't teaching his players to drop the ball before scoring, as the HC, he is going to get blamed for it and the loss. (It lookS like Arizona is planning on firing him at the end of the season and figures they'LL "clawback" a little bit of that salary before doing so.)

In a different era the player would have been cut right after the game, or at least by the next day. Instead, the media is focusing on how mean the HC was in response and for his "rough" contact with a....checks notes....PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER!
