Seems like a simple fix for the Eagles then. Release Wentz and name Foles the starter.

Jerruh would gladly pick up his tab.

There are about 20 teams that would trade just about anything to get Wentz. Another 7 or 8 that would try and get him for a reasonable number.

I get the feeling this guy is reporting real info he's heard, but it's probably from people in the organization who want Foles to be the QB.

This is the inevitable negative press to push for a trade of Wentz instead of Foles

Wentz is still long term the 2nd best asset in the entire NFL after Mahomes. Above Baker, Goff, Garopollo, Watson etc

Release a young dirt cheap talented QB and get no compensation and resign the 30 plus year old QB who has consistency issues for 20 plus mil?
Hard to believe some of you are so clueless about big business. Wentz might sound expensive, but he is a legit franchise qb. Foles is not. He may be better, but he does not provide a big time monetary image. Players are products. Wentz is a far superior product than Foles.

Philly should trade Wentz and give Foles a nice 3 year deal. Foles is a folk hero there, will sign for a cheaper deal (if the team picks him) and the team rallies around him. They will have a nice 2-3 year run. Wentz is injury prone and about to break the bank with his next contract in a couple of seasons.

I don't know about the other guys, but at Cal, Goff took an absolute pounding. Jon Gruden famously told Goff the RPO plays he was running was the "Ridiculous Protection Offense." Before the draft Goff was seen as more fragile than Wentz. Yet AFAIK, Goff has never missed a game in college or the NFL because of injury. Wentz missed two months of his senior year, and parts of two of his three NFL seasons. And you're so sure he's such a great long-term asset?

Fletcher Cox tweeted that this is all untrue and Carson's a great leader. The guy spreading these rumors wrote an anti-Wentz article earlier this season. Smells like bullshite.

Honestly it’s crqzy that someone in that team would call him out when he was like 11-2 as a starter last year.

shite look at his stats in some of their loses

30-37 for 310 and 2 TDS vs Carolina
24-35 311 and 2 TDS vs Minnesota

He had 1 legit bad game.

Foles has had like 2-3 good games and the team seems to just realize there is no room for error when he is QB.

Wentz seems to need to be macho.
Rg3 says hi.

I'd trade Wentz after signing foles.

You have to decide if he has the self-understanding to play it safe.
I doubt it.
I'm ready to get a 1 and a 2 and a 3 for wentz.

I know they're snippet stories, but literally everything I've ever seen or read about Wentz from different sources has said he's an awesome, nice, humble guy.

Wetnz is great tipper, polite, and humble

Carson Wentz charity work at Children's Hospital and mission trip to Haiti

Wentz donates $120k for service dog program

Wentz the dog lover lives a boring life, lives alone with his dogs and listens to religious podcasts on his way to work in the morning

Responses from teammates from the article:

OT Lane Johnson:
quote:

“Whoever wrote that article needs to check their ‘sources’.” He added the hashtag “#fakenews” and wrote, “Carson has been and is our leader and our QB. Y’all know where to find me if you have any issues.”

Center Jason Kelce:
quote:

“I’ll go to war any day of the week and twice on Sunday with guys like Carson Wentz...Carson through the first three years has been nothing but a great teammate trying to get better each and every day, trying to make others better each and every day, trying to make this team better each and every day. And when the dust has settled, his legacy will be one of an incredible competitor and teammate who laid it on the line each and every day for the guy next to him, and a man who did everything he could to help this team succeed.”

Zach Ertz:
quote:

“Don’t believe everything you read!!! Carson has been nothing but a GREAT person, GREAT teammate and GREAT leader since Day 1. We can’t wait to get back to work and be the best team we can be in 2019!”

Third string QB Nate Sudfeld:
quote:

“I’m around Carson arguably more than anybody on the team and I feel obligated to say how false and simply wrong the claims about him are...one of the best leaders and teammates I’ve been around...He’s handled the last two years with such grace and poise and has NEVER put anything above the Philadelphia Eagles.”

DL Fletcher Cox:
quote:

Reading through this Carson Wentz thing and as a leader on this team none of that is true Carson is a great teammate and great player we are all behind him 100% he’s our guy and will come back and prove the world wrong. If you got a problem feel free to @ me I’ll respond

Eagles beat reporter:
quote:

All I can say is I have spoken to many @Eagles players - on an off the record. Not one has ever disparaged Wentz as a teammate or leader. I predicted this narrative: Wentz becomes the bad guy. It’s not fair to him.

Wentz never targeted Jeffries instead always going to Ertz. He does play favorites.

Eagles blog Bleeding Green Nation argued Monday that, after going over the numbers, Wentz did not appear to have targeted Ertz much more than Foles did, nor did he ignore the team’s other primary pass-catchers, wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor, to any notable degree. According to the site, Ertz saw 26.4 percent of Wentz’s targets and 24.4 percent of Foles’s, while Jeffery (20.3-19.0) and Agholor (15.0-17.3) also did not experience a great disparity under the two quarterbacks.
