This is so sad.
I’m not sure I remember a pro athlete going and killing themself after an event. I mean clearly he had a history and bigger problems than a back 9 meltdown, but the way it all played out is dramatic.

And the Tour still doesn’t care to change and support its players. It’s the reason why half the top 20 is on another tour right now. The PGA Commish is an enormous, arrogant, flippant, POS that only cares about himself and not about the physical or mental well being of the players..
lol. What a terrible take.
LIV players left for the money. Period.

I think they were actually supposed to be married at the end of April, so I feel like something had to happen there.
A buddy of mine committed suicide after his girlfriend broke up with him in college. You feel for the family in the situation, but you also really feel for the significant other because they place unnecessary blame on themselves.
Again, that’s all speculation but I really hope she’s going to be ok.

Now that the family announced what all rational people knew happened, how many vax retards will come back to this thread to apologize for their ignorance? I’m guessing zero.
They’ll be back speculating in the next thread of someone who dies though. Pieces of shite.

The PGA might be worse suited than most professional sports organizations to do anything about mental health. You have to both have access to, and really, really, like golf to even start getting into it.
True, the PGA has always been the most "you are on your own" major sport. In tennis the players basically have "teams" of coaches, family, advisors, and hanger-ons. This does not exist in golf. I know a guy who played up to the Korn Ferry tour. You are basically on your own even more there. You load up your clubs in the trunk or back and drive across the country paying your own way and hoping to sleep on friends couches and try to get as many free meals at tournaments as possible.

“Why was I drunk? Because I’m a f—ing alcoholic that hates everything to do with the PGA Tour life and that’s my scapegoat.”
Based on his response, seems the best thing for him would have been to avoid playing on the tour.

As someone who has struggled with mental health at times in my life, you have to take what he is saying with a grain of salt.
He’s struggling and he doesn’t know how to make it better and was simply lashing out. It’s common.
And for people saying he should have just quit, it was how he earned his living. And he very well likely wanted to be like everyone else and get his mental health on track so that he could enjoy playing golf again.
Depressed people, and certainly addicts, tend to have misplaced anger and blame.

Also, a very good player for the Cleveland Indians in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Tony Horton, tried to but was unsuccessful. He had mental health issues and was told that the only way to deal with those issues was to completely sever any connection with baseball, which he did.

I wouldn’t say it’s weird as much as it’s telling. If she was that close to the parents like most fiancé’s would be in a happy marriage, then she is likely mentioned in the top. Given the fact it’s not, my guess is that they had a rocky relationship.
The guy brought a playmate to Augusta, was an alcoholic, and unfortunately had other demons. It’s unfortunate but he was a hot fricking mess.
