Lulz. How long before LSU has to answer for the death of a student?

I’d expect nothing less from a program with boosters that embezzle money from pediatric cancer research funds to pay the OL under the table.

Kelly will win 10-12 games every year at LSU and he'll bring an elite D coordinator with him.

Kelly will likely win a national title within 5 years, yet LSU fans are going to go ape shite over this hire.

The guy has coached at a big brand football school for a long time, and gets blown out virtually every time he faces an actual good team. What makes you believe he's going to come here where the competition is far greater, and do any better? Sure, you might catch lightening in a bottle, like we did with Miles and Orgeron, and somehow pull out a title. But the idea was to move past settling, and get somebody who could actually move the needle forward and KEEP it going forward. IF he is the hire, I don't think he's the guy to accomplish that.

He can now put a roster together to win a national title. It's hard to win at ND with their academic standards. I know the CCB is going crazy right now, but this is an outstanding hire, IMO

Guy killed a kid with his stupidity, is .500 in bowl games at Notre dame, and has never won a major bowl, despite playing the easiest schedules in Notre dame history.

He’s 2-0 vs the great LSU with a less talented team

The Manti Teo team was a lucky fraud, but he did very well to get two other teams into the playoffs. He is the winningest coach at freaking Notre Dame. His playoff teams just got overrun by more talented squads.

Those were exceedingly underwhelming LSU teams with no QB, and incompetent head coaches. Try again.

The knock is he's kind of a prickly Yankee that's never been in the South
Saban is a huge prick too that culturally has no connection with the Deep South (yes I know he is from WV but it’s clear he hates hates hates redneck culture)

Anyone who can't see that this is a fantastic hire and that Kelly is a great coach is a moron.

The whole “fit” thing is the dumbest shite that fans and media love to over analyze anytime a coach is hired.

With expansion, making the playoffs will be extremely easy for mid tier SEC teams and above

LSU's offer to Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly is a 10-year deal that will take him north of $100 million with incentives, sources tell @BrodyAMiller and me.

If he can translate the level of O line talent to LSU he’s had at ND, this will be a home run

ETA fully aware I’ve roasted the hell out of Brian Kelly as a person as recently as this year. I’m a hypocrite. we exist.

I don't really buy this. That fact is offset by him being able to walk into any Catholic high school in the country and picking the best of the best. ND, for example, recruits the private schools in Ohio better than OSU does.

The academic standards are overblown. I think South Bend/the overall environment might not be, but the academic standards are. ND can get nearly any kid into the school that it wants. And ND's had some great recruiting classes. Weis landed the #2 class, Kelly had a top-5 class right after the national championship appearance, he'd plateaued mostly around 10-15, but then he hired Freeman this past offseason and it's back into the top-5.

BK is a good CEO/program manager. He/his staff are really good developers of talent, particularly at certain positions (not so great at others, including/most notably QB). He's decent at gameplanning and on Saturdays. He himself was not a particularly good/high-effort recruiter, and I think LSU fans might be unpleasantly surprised at some of his classes, particularly if Freeman doesn't join him in Baton Rouge.

For ND, the dream is Fickell with Freeman remaining as DC (and maybe Herman at OC due to the OSU 2012-14 connection?). There's talks that they might just promote Freeman to HC, which I ultimately wouldn't hate, but think we should make Fickell say no first.

Yeah, we all know when there are twelve slots, ESPN will be pushing for 7 SEC teams, because those 8-4 TAMU squads are serious.

The schedule argument is going to be so skewed that itll just happen naturally but yeah ESPN will be happy as a clam

I hope they cap the playoff at six teams

This year it feels like there's only one team. Most years it's probably only two or three
