If you love college football I understand following it at a surface level, it’s no different than following the draft if you’re a Saints fan or whatever. The adults who take it a step further and start messaging kids on social media is fricking weird as hell

You just insulted the entire Ole Miss fanbase. They've been caught stalking recruits on their visits to Oxford many times. Now they just do it with NIL kids.

Meh, I follow recruiting. To me, the weird part is those who follow them on social media and beg them to sign with their school or cuss them out after they chose a rival.

Recruiting is how you win championships. People want to win championships.

It's the weirdest board on this site.

Making a fake Twitter account as a Texas fan who is actually an A&M fan but went to University of Houston and saying a bunch of racial shite to recruits is the peak weirdness of college recruiting

That's Texag7 btw

Imagine, as a 45 yr old, following dozens of 16 yr olds on social media and begging them on social media to commit to your favorite school. And then cursing at them and letting it ruin your day bc they didn't pick your favorite school. Happens here every day.

This is absolutely creepy and pathetic. At my age, I'm not following any teenager on social media much less communicating with them. Trying to decipher cryptic tweets or obsess over sock choices is equally as disturbing. But this is totally different than following your favorite college team and being excited about the next generation of athletes.

In other words, following recruiting....good, social media obession....bad.

It’s just a hobby for people. It’s like playing chess or playing a hand of cards, except it’s all for one big day at the end. I check the recruiting board and respect the people who are into it.

I like to keep tabs on which programs have the best HS recruiting classes. I agree some people go overboard with it but nothing wrong with being familiar with the next wave of talent coming to your favorite team.

I remember one poster posted a text message conversation he had with Priest Willis begging him to come to LSU. That's taking it way too far.

I can see why it was such a big deal in the late 90's to early 2000's when the internet was just getting going and the recruiting world was far different then it is today.

Now it just seems creepy and weird.

Who was the roided out guy on the OT who used to post all the time that was into all this?

It never fails that the people that start these threads are into some kiddy shite

Some of your last threads you’ve started:

1) marvel super hero show

2) mad cause Moana is being re made into a live person show

3) gambling on WWE wrestling

You big, gigantic frickin nerd. Sit down

I follow recruiting because it’s the lifeblood of a program. How is it any different than being a grown man and following 18-21 year olds?

I have lost interest over the past few seasons, but I find it more ridiculous to care that others are into recruiting. I mean it is the future of the teams they follow.

I’m sure you find watching little league baseball to also be creepy? Yet it’s sports at its purest form.

I think you are the weirdo to think it has anything to do with being a pedo.

Also, LesterEarl is right about you.

My personal opinion is some of the biggest losers on earth are the adults who comment on FB posts or tweet at high school kids trashing them for where they decide to play college ball.

I’ve always held this view.

HOWEVER, now some are getting paid 100k+ with NIL (they were getting paid before, NCAA just looked the other way based on the program), and if you’re someone who contributes money into said NIL, well….

In fairness, OP said "way into" recruiting, which I took to mean the grown men who follow and tweet at 17-year-olds they don't know thirsting for a RT or like. Or going full rage monster at a kid for not choosing "his" school (which, in a lot of instances, rage monster didn't even attend himself).

Which I agree with.

If your daily mood doesn’t revolve around where a teenager is going to go to school and play football then I feel bad for you.

We not comparing little league baseball to the next generation of college football athletes

Not a single sporting event ever played by 12 year olds has mattered for anything, and they shouldn’t. They’re fricking kids.
