A lot of you are really fixated on these Big 10 stories. Move on.

The interesting thing about the situation is that it will only get exponentially worse the more time passes and the other conferences are headed to a football season. There are still a lot of Big 10 fans/donors that are assuming the other conferences will eventually fold that will lose their shite as we get closer to kick off.

If we go off and have a full season in the SEC, ACC, and Big 12, several fanbases would revolt against the conference (OSU, PSU, Wisc, etc...). It would be ugly.

I think that’s why you’re going to really see a campaign to make sure the Big 12, SEC, and ACC don’t play.

If the big 10 is left on the sidelines while the other conferences play a full season it could genuinely break the big 10 apart.

There probably was a vote and Penn State overlooked it

If the commissioner made the decision to move to spring on his own, he should be fired.

The part that can get messy is that Northwestern has a great journalism school and there are a ton of sportswriters from there. I could easily see Big Ten people trying to work the media into pressuring the other leagues to cancel.

Should they have "Yakety Sax" playing while they hold these press conferences?

You think? Iowa is already leading the charge because it is stupid that Iowa cancels but Iowa State gets to play football this fall.

Of course, given the hysterics I've heard out of Ames over the weekend with student move-in would not shock me if the Karens force cancellation. People going out of their minds because college students coming back are partying.

Also worth noting that Kevin Warren's son has not opted out for Miss State.

You think this:

quote:

He has openly stated that he wants to use his power to sway the election.

quote:

First-year Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren has made it a priority that the conference’s nearly 10,000 athletes will have a say in that election. Warren is in just his fifth month in charge of the 14-member league, and he’s made it clear with his early actions that social change will be among the league’s priorities. The Big Ten announced a league-wide voter registration initiative on Monday, which will include non-partisan education and a deeper understanding of registration, voting and voter suppression.

equals that?

Mosey your dumb arse back on over to the Poliboard and the Q thread. The idiots are missing a patriot.

Eh, partially true.

They are interested in the Big 10 but they aren’t bigger than the rest of football.

I think the only people who care about the Pac 12 are at Nike.

Whether he went rogue or not it’s his head on the chopping block if the other conferences put on a season with relatively minor issues. That dude will he openly rooting for them to fail

Without question. His not answering questions to even attempt a reasonable response about why he thinks his son can make the decision to play or not but not the Big 10 players and their families should be fireable in itself. Add to that all these schools calling him out for announcing without even a formal vote? If the SEC coalition is able to get through the season, have the CFB Playoff and crown a champion while the Big 10 spends the holidays at home around a fire watching it all on tv? Sheeeeit.

They 100% thought if they canceled their season that the other P5s would promptly fall in line. If they knew that the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 would hold the line like they have I've got a feeling the Big 10 wouldn't have canceled. At least not so quickly and unilaterally.

then it comes out the medical study they relied on heavily to make their decision was junk. It's been a rough week.

Former Tulane AD doing work...

She knows her football. Hired Tommy Bowden at Tulane, then recommended they hire Rich Rod but was overruled, left Tulane because of that.

Look... you have to have a strong arse commissioner because all the egos involved in the president chairs, it's overwhelming. The best conferences / leagues have strong commissioners.

No way this shite show happens if Delany is still in charge.

Look, I think Kevin Warren is a great, very smart, good guy. But he's never worked for a league or a conference before. He's either worked for teams or for law firms. And I think that's now hurting him.
