They 100% thought if they canceled their season that the other P5s would promptly fall in line. If they knew that the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 would hold the line like they have I've got a feeling the Big 10 wouldn't have canceled. At least not so quickly and unilaterally.

Rush to be the first P5 to cancel and don’t even hold a vote

That’s because there wasn’t one. Just a few reach arounds and a circle jerk.

So a brand new commissioner just went rogue?

Yeah, I'm going to call BS on that.

I bet he did. Kevin Warren has other motives. He has openly stated that he wants to use his power to sway the election.

Of course, if we're being honest, university presidents are relishing the opportunity to cancel football. They get to brag to their academia colleagues about it while they all sniff their own farts, and it doesn't hurt their salaries.

I think the Big 10 commissioner receives more blame than he deserves but the one thing he screwed up is thoroughly misreading the situation with the other conferences. I’m guessing the school presidents and ADs were given poor guidance on how their announcement would be received by the other conferences. I do not believe the Penn State AD literally doesn’t know whether there was a vote. That would be beyond ridiculous.

Look, it’s very clear there was a vote.

The rest of this is damage control. Some schools are trying to sway public opinion towards not playing and others didn’t realize the backlash and are trying to say we didn’t know or understand.

The big 10s arrogance thought because they cancelled, everyone else would. They’re learning a lesson that no one gives a damn about them or the pac 10.

When and where did he say that?

I don't think an athletic commissioner would go "rouge" without a majority of the schools, who stand to lose significant money with a cancelled season, at least being in the loop on said cancellation. Now, that's not to say the school presidents didn't want it shut down. But I don't think the commissioner unilaterally made the decision without any input from the schools.

Apparently Minnesota's university president said the same thing. She said there was no formal vote.

There’s a good chance that the next leader of the United States will emerge from voters in swing states in the Big Ten Conference’s footprint. Five states that President Donald Trump won in 2016 – Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa – were democratic states when Barack Obama won the election in 2012.

First-year Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren has made it a priority that the conference’s nearly 10,000 athletes will have a say in that election. Warren is in just his fifth month in charge of the 14-member league, and he’s made it clear with his early actions that social change will be among the league’s priorities. The Big Ten announced a league-wide voter registration initiative on Monday, which will include non-partisan education and a deeper understanding of registration, voting and voter suppression.

It’s clear to me that the Big10 Presidents and the Commissioner do not want their votes made public.

Which is ridiculous... if you think you made the right decision, let the public know how you voted and stand by your vote/decision.

This, they thought they swung the big dick in the P5.

The interesting thing about the situation is that it will only get exponentially worse the more time passes and the other conferences are headed to a football season. There are still a lot of Big 10 fans/donors that are assuming the other conferences will eventually fold that will lose their shite as we get closer to kick off.
