"It has to stay up," said another trustee. "We have to let a number of months pass, and we'll address it again. But there is no way, no way. It's just not coming down."

"You can't let people stampede you into making a rash decision," a trustee said. "The statue represents the good that Joe did. It doesn't represent the bad that he did."

Just how delusional are the PSU BOT? Do they really not realize the depravity of this situation?

So they didn't cave in to ESPNs all day crusade to force them to immediately take it down? Good for them.

I do hate how ESPN pushes agenda's.. and I have no opinion on whether the statue should come down or not.. but it seems to me they sure as hell jumped quickly to fire Paterno during a season before the Sandusky thing even ever went to court..

Joe Pa gave most of his life to State College and he and his family deserve respect. Let him rest in peace.

I agree letting his family be left alone...but come on, If Joe Pa looked the other way, then he is no different then his friend Jerry.

Have to agree, if Penn State needs to go forward, they need to disassociate themselves of anyone who was involved in the scandal and pay the victims.

Oh, I hate ESPN driven agendas as well.

No, no he doesn't. He forewent any & all respect the second he allowed a suspected pedophile to continue to run wild across his campus in 1998 & then continued to do that (even as further evidence mounted) for over 13 years. Such a man does not deserve any respect. He deserves an amount of public humiliation/character degradation equal to that of the combined # of tears shed by children whom were sexually abused for all those years in "Happy Valley".

Extremely, and no they don't have a clue. It's this line of thinking that led to this and makes me know that Penn State does not deserve a football program. The real tragedy in most Penn State's fans isn't that innocent kids were molested and lives ruined, but that JoePa was fired, died, as legacy tarnished along with the Penn State football program. Until they can learn to appreciate this and acknowledge what a piece of shite JoePa was, they shouldn't have a football program.

You're right. Personally I think the Germans should have fought to keep the swastikas and Hitler statues after they lost the war and learned that their Füher was a mass murdering evil psychopath who almost eliminated an entire race.

I could not disagree more. His legendary stature is a farce as he helped suppress the knowledge of the rape of young boys by one of his own staff. He then lied about having knowledge of the events. Being a loyal coach means nothing in the shadow of this scandal.

The only way that statue should stay is if they hang a sign around its neck that reads "I protected and enabled a child rapist."

Far from it,everyone with a shred of decency believes that statue should come down, and all traces of JoePa should be erased.
