Time for the red rocket.

In 2022 they fired Matt Rhule after a 1-4 start, the interim Steve Wilks went 6-6 after replacing Mayfield with Sam Darnold (4-2)
Before they mortgaged the farm they had Mayfield and Darnold who in the past two week have combined to more games than the Panthers have since they released them.

Option #1, Start Andy Dalton: You lose and learn nothing. Option #2, Start Bryce Young: You lose and at least learn if there is anything there with this guy. Makes no sense going with Dalton.
At this point, siting on the bench will do more for his development than playing will.
He needs a complete reset.
This team so t winning with Andy. But if you have any hope of fixing Young, starts here.

I agree, but this may be a mercy benching as much anything. It's obvious from watching him that his confidence is absolutely destroyed (maybe as much as we've ever seen from a high profile quarterback). They cut to a shot of him after he threw the interception yesterday and he legitimately looked like he was close to tears. The thought may be that benching him and letting him learn behind Dalton will be better for his longterm development than keeping him out there and letting him get ruined. The Panthers aren't going to win very many games regardless of who's at quarterback so the plan might be to let Dalton take the Ls for now and then come back to Young late in the season when the pressure and expectations are less.
Of course this is the Panthers we're talking about so it's probably just Tepper being a reactionary arse.

Other players (especially receivers) are visibly frustrated on the field with how bad he is. You risk something really boiling over if you just keep throwing him to the wolves

I hate to throw Bryce under the bus but maybe the worst of a really bad group of QB’s that came out of Bama. I had high expectations for Mac and obviously Tua is talented when not dealing with a concussion but Bryce is a fricking trainwreck and even Stevie Wonder could see this coming before the draft.

Young will def get another opportunity at some point, but he deserved this benching, he's completely stunk.

WTH? I was told he was the second coming of Joe Namath.

I’d say without a doubt when you look at everything Carolina gave up to get him. Amazing they ruined him so quickly.

Andy Dalton and Carolina beats the Raiders this weekend. Book it.

Would you rather have trey lance or bryce young on your team right now
Posted on 9/17/24 at 7:53 am to imAMAZING
Trey Lance, because I honestly think Young is below the physical minimum to play QB in the NFL, and at least Trey Lance has the physical requirements.

Bryce Young possessed NONE of the physical tools needed to be a good NFL QB. That isn't the Panthers fault.
