Are we XFL Fans Now?

Posted by BevoBucks on 1/3/26 at 9:40 pm
Given the massive roster turnover every year + grown men hanging on to 6 years of eligibility, the football teams clearly have nothing to do with the university anymore & are simply pro teams housing their facilities on campus. It’s the first minor league football to have fans pay enough money to make it work. Who knew, all they had to do was use existing logos and colors to pull it off?
The ending of this season feels different, and not in a good way.

Welcome to NCAA men's soccer. Incoming European "freshmen" are 21.
Yeah, I’d expect football teams to increasingly be made up of men who aren’t good enough to get a high draft grade, but are valuable as “college” players. Basically, the XFL with college logos.

Of all the truly embarrassing things Joey Freshwater has done, this doesn't even rank in the top 1,000.

Nick Saban says no.

A lot of people who don’t like the direction that college football is heading care.
Saban was the godfather & GOAT of processing players.

In modern times however, legally paying players, has changed it all
Miami & Oregon have paid as well or better than anyone. Indiana is the paradigm outlier. If guys continue to get five and six plus years of eligibility, why not build a roster of 23 year old men? Cheaper & more developed than any 18 year old 5*.

I highly doubt Texas forced him out.
No, but it does sound like he was informed his $ & targets were going down this next year. Meritocracy at work.

Tough look though when the QB can't stand up for his roommate
Kid had all the intangibles. So, hate this for him. But, in pro football you can’t miss on measurables & also have drops. Doesn’t matter who you room with.

What Howie Roseman has done to put together such a talented, but young roster in today’s NFL is as much or more of a story.

Bama, especially, represents a changing of the guard. Georgia just didn’t want to face Beck.

Exactly. I get being aggressive. But, that was reckless.

And yet, Texas somehow whipped the Ags way worse than even they did. The backhanded copium compliment is received and appreciated.

Texas’
@CitrusBowl
win over No. 18 Michigan (41-27) marked the Longhorns’ ??th victory over a top-25 opponent — including FIVE vs. top-10 teams — over the last two seasons. Most of any FBS program. SIX of those wins came by 10 or more points.
This is why I don't understand the vocal minority who are unhappy with Sark. Do we not remember the Herman or Strong tenures?

At Auburn he was playing fantastic at nickel and the next season he wanted to play corner or enter the portal. We put him at corner and he was horrible. He transfers, is back at nickel and looks fantastic.
That's interesting. Any thoughts on why he's willing to play nickel for Miami and not for Auburn?

Miami looks championship ready. Whomever plays them next will have their hands full and then some.
The fact that little freshman WR got hurt & was eager to block a linebacker when he came back in the game is championship caliber football.

Looked dicy for a bit. Glad to see us finish a game like that. Need more of that energy next year.
He’s definitely played his way up draft boards this year. Having that ferocious of a pass rush helps.
Yeah, they look like legit natty contenders tonight.
