The Pac-12 has decided not to move forward with any 9 a.m. PT kickoffs this season, but is open to revisiting the idea in the future, a conference spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

Andrew Walker, the Pac-12's vice president for public affairs, said schools needed more time to plan for the earlier kickoff time.

"Our interested schools need more lead time for discussions with all relevant stakeholders," Walker said. "There is interest from Fox and there is interest from some of our schools but need more time to plan properly."

Multiple schools expressed interest in continuing to explore the concept for 2020, according to Walker.

Tough for a Pac12 game to beat out that Noon Northwestern-Indiana game from Evanston that ends 13-6

Scott cited fan frustration with late-night kickoffs

This is vintage Larry Scott idiocy. Pac fans are mad because his stupid Pac12 Network makes teams stagger starts. Arizona got two 8:30 PM kickoffs last year.

So instead of acknowledging the P12N is a disaster and we need to partner with real networks so Pac games can run at the same time, Scott swings to the other extreme and proposes 9 am starts.

Try just starting at normal effing football times. 8:30 am sucks because not a lot of fans want to be fighting traffic at 12:45 am leaving the stadium. 9 am, tell me how many college students want to pack a student section at 9 am.

I dunno man, but if I were in college, my Friday night binge will carryover to Saturday kickoff at 9am and then crash in my dorm around 1pm. Then wake up, rinse and repeat. Sounds efficient to me.

9 am kickoffs is the worst idea. You'd fill up the stands and have eyeballs on you for really great matchups, but you know they'd stick Oregon State/Colorado in there, and nobody in the central or east would give a shite, and the people who would attend these atrocities would be turned off by the ridiculously early kickoff.

The key to improving attendance and viewership? Have better football on the field. How do you make that happen? I don't know.

East coasters complaining about their noon starts always triggers me. Try 11 a.m. baw. And we still got good and blacked out ahead of time.

Good move. PAC 12 football to me is Sark After Dark...not Sark After Breakfast.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but wasn't there at one time a NCAA rule stating that you couldn't kickoff until a certain local time?
