ETA: they also closed the Chimy’s there which was the one redeeming quality of the city.

It’s a nice town

Just not a great college town

The college bars is like six of them on campus corner

Tailgating there sucks balls

Eugene is probably the best college town there is in the summer months when it’s warm. It’s probably the worst there is when it’s raining for 8 months straight.

Ann Arbor is a really nice smaller city and is not far from Detroit.

I always hear people putting Ann Arbor as a top college town.

Drove to Mcalister Oklahoma four years ago. Nothing between Hugo and mcalister. A big fishing lake from McAllister to Muskogee. And nothing until you get to Tulsa.

Most OU grads think very highly of themselves though. Arrogance and narcissistic.

Is Madison that bad now? I still remember the good ole days of partying at Mifflin and Halloween in Madison. Madison used to be a blast.

I'm too old for that shite now, but as I understand they shut down the Mifflin and Halloween/State Street parties years ago.

I didn’t think people actually lived in Madison after college
I know a few UW grads
They all live here

Dude the U is literally on Miami Beach and they can't get good players to go there. It doesn't matter the town. I mean, WTH is desirable about Tuscaloosa?? It's the program. Plus the boosters paying the kids doesn't hurt either.

Exactly. The town being why the recruits come. bullshite.
Auburn, Tuscaloosa, BR are thriving cities that recruits see as major hubs after they get their degrees! LOL

Like when our fans used to bitch about Clemson getting players to go to the “middle of nowhere” Columbia is basically the same shite

Why does a place have to be a major employment hub to be a desirable place to attend college (or live, more generally)?

I don’t think most people think about appealing college towns as being a place to work later on, generally. College is a separate experience.

Don't a lotta grads leave madison and work in chicago?
Well, Chicago is not far and is one of the largest cities in America, of course people leave to go there.

Epic is also based out of Verona though, which is just outside of Madison. People come from all over the country to work there.

ETA: I've been to Madison 8 times, and I've never had issues with it being too PC, or too liberal. But, I'm also not an a-hole that has to include political opinions in every conversation that I have.

OK State in Stillwater is kinda drab. Spent two weeks there during spring break and the whole town was basically shut down.

U of Illinois in Champaign is one of the most depressing campuses I've been on. The buildings are old and all are dark brown bricked. The area outside of campus is cool though, lots to eat and shop.

Arizona State was very nice. Lots to look at, if you catch my drift.

LSU has a gorgeous campus.

Northwestern St is underrated.

I never said that.
I was exactly saying that , it’s a great college town for college
Was asking which schools have both.

Agreed 100% and that’s what I was saying.
They’re all college towns, you spend 4 (or more) years then get out

Auburn

Lol dude, no.

Auburn is literal definition of town in the middle of nowhere. It’s not near a big city and the town it is in wouldn’t be half the size it is without the University.

Yea people way overrated how much the city matters to sports recruits. That’s such a minor factor to these guys.

I’d say for guys it’s probably

1) chance to play
2) chance to win
3) pussy to frick
4) choice of study
5) city/bar scene

For girls it’s probably

1) chance to play
2) chance to win
3) choice of study
4) city/bar scene

(This is strictly for students who’s priority is athletics)
