2 hours, but your point is well taken. I’ve always thought the TB attendance issues have more to do with the crappy stadium and the location of the crappy stadium. It’s at the bottom of a peninsula on the edge of the metro area, 30 miles from Tampa. There are literally more fish surrounding that stadium than people. WTF?

The marlins and rays have awful atmospheres and attendance. The last thing mlb needs is another team in central / south Florida.

I think Orlando would do decent just because of the central location. Like others have mentioned, they should just relocate the Rays to Orlando instead of adding a new team. The Rays stadium is garbage and that area doesn't really seem to care about the team like they do the Lightning/Bucs.

St Pete doesn’t deserve the Rays. Tampa does. Instead of having the team 20 miles across the bay in a different city in the Trop (which is an awful venue and takes 45 minutes to drive to regularly),why don’t you put the team in the actual city in its name. Not to mention, Stu Sternberg is a terrible owner who is against the interests and wants of the local communities that do support the team.

Ya know, since Tampa BAY is a city. I agree that having the team in St Pete is a bad idea, but they are not just named for the city of Tampa.

I wouldn’t call him “terrible”. They have found a way to remain competitive despite their disadvantages in home venue and market size. I’d actually tip my cap to him for the work of their front office

Seriously. This one shouldn't too difficult if Orlando really wants it.

Wouldnt Orlando benefit by having Disney, Universal and Sea world right down the street. Basically a million people on vacation at a time in the summer whose children would like to see a major league baseball game. I think they would do fine.

They are the biggest tv market without MLB; if the rays were to move there, it would work...at least a lot better than it is now.

Yeah, but let's be clear. Tampa has made some great offers for a stadium. Ray's owner wants the tax payer to fit 100% of a billion dollar stadium and he gets full surrounding real estate rights. They are right to tell him to pound sand.

In all seriousness, children wanting to see a baseball game is probably at an all time low these days.

Lived in Orlando for 15 years from roughly 2000-2015, this sounds like a horrible idea.

If they can find a venue in Orlando in the downtown area where Camping World, Orlando City Stadium, and the Amway center are located, it would probably get decent support. That is a fun area, and a pretty cool area to catch a game (assuming you don't turn one street the wrong way and get stabbed by a crackhead).
