Are you guys really this dense and obtuse? Brian Kelly made out ND’s schedules as far as 2026-27. Does it surprise you that beta Kelly avoided tough competition?

Freeman, needless to say, appears to have a different outlook. Auburn, Texas and Arkansas in 2028. Plus Clemson and Miami. Looks like they also have Alabama in 2029

Yup. The only programs who care about them are in the Big Ten anyways.

Who, Purdue? They’re the only one that plays Notre Dame. They dropped the Michigan schools to get heavyweight bouts with Pitt and Duke to buoy the service academy schedule they want to play. Now the darling of their schedule has told them to go frick themselves after joining the Big Ten.

Don’t worry, the super league(s) will be coming down the pipeline, and ND will join for it. You will all get your wish.

They’re already here, boner.

I don’t think either “needs” the other. ND’s replacing USC with BYU, about the same level of team.

Lol.

We already established you don’t care about ND. You don’t need to keep posting repeatedly in a thread about an irrelevant program you don’t care about, it’s very weird.

To be fair he is probably just keeping the same energy as all 9 million 'the G5 don't belong in the playoffs' threads that happened Saturday.

I’m here to learn about BYU being on USCs level.

They are not from a “program” standpoint. They are likely about even from a “quality of opponent” standpoint in the 2026 season, which was the context of the post. They would’ve been a better boost to ND’s SOS than USC was this year, last year and 2021, so 3 of the past 5 years. BYU is not a permanent replacement, but gong to Provo does not materially change ND’s schedule in 2026 compared to going to LA.

Beating USC didn’t help 10-2 ND get in this year. Not having USC on the schedule won’t prevent 11-1 ND from getting in. That 11-1 vs. 10-2 seems to be the cutoff for ND, regardless of if USC is on the schedule or not.

Ironically, 10-2 USC with a win over ND likely would’ve made the CFP this year, while 10-2 USC with a win over Stanford (and not playing ND) wouldn’t have, so it seems the Trojans could benefit from keeping ND on the schedule still.

Either way, the big bummer is a great rivalry game is lost. Everything is always about “the Playoff” nowadays… but honestly, it was just a lot of fun seeing ND beat USC 7 of the last 8 years. I’m going to miss not seeing it happen yet again in 2026, 2027, etc.

BYU and all that Mormon money is going to be a player going forward. Check out their basketball program and the money they're dumping there.
