The murdered player’s 27 year old roommate was arrested for his murder

Can we get a source for this?

His roommate was arrested on weapons and drug charges, but that could've been a result of them searching the apartment after the other guy died. Just clarifying what I've seen has not mentioned he was arrested for the murder

I thought the same thing.

Then I found out the killer was also a member of the team.

That would be the reason.

All of their games are now forfeits, right?

They should be kicked out of their conference and possibly sued by the conference.

If I was an AD in that conference I’d refuse to play them in the future.

Yeah I haven't seen the roommate had been charged with the actual murder yet

But I've seen enough of The First 48 to know that homicide investigators will find whatever charge they can to get their main suspect in jail until they can collect enough evidence to actually get a murder warrant signed off on

Understand the sentiment, but we are talking FCS football, the players all have more important things to focus on.
Yep, their commitment to the team and finishing the season. There are always more important things, it’s become a barnacle on life for soft people to clutch too!

Natchitoches Police Department continues to investigate the fatal shooting of an NSU football player and announced that a second person was arrested.

A NPD Facebook post identified 22-year-old Maurice Campbell II of Memphis, as the person arrested in connection with Ronnie Caldwell’s slaying on October 12

Arrested in connection does not mean he is the murderer tho.

Maybe the roommate/guy who was murdered were in a shootout with a rival gang and now the roommate was arrested because he had illegal weapons.

He does seem to be involved (especially since he was removed from NWSU football websites) but may not be the murderer.

Word around Natchitoches is there is more to this than just a coach who can’t coach the team due to his grief. Time to clean the whole program. Players included.

Well they played last week, so yes it’s more than just grief at the loss of their player.

Another player being involved is a big part I’m sure.

You’re correct. I tried to find a link with specifics details about the roommate’s involvement. All I found were reports of a possible suspect, followed by a statement announcing an arrest made in “connection” to the murder.

However, when the the details of roommate’s name and arrest were made public by police, there were no charges directly related to homicide. There are dots connecting the roommate to the murder, but nothing definitive.

Have John Melvin University play rest of their schedule

That would be awesome to see McNeese play them, and it would improve the morale of the MSU football team after they beat JMU. You know Crowley isn’t that far from LC.

The last coach WM took from Ruston worked out pretty well.

Go ahead and cancel Northwestern and save the State some dough. Too many of these Jr Colleges in Louisiana masquerading as institutions of higher learning.
