Well only 4 of those have ever been played in my lifetime. I only watched 2 of em, and the latest one was 15 and half years ago. So, I guess I’ll suffer through it.

I’ve never given a shite about the Rose Bowl.
It used to come on tv in the afternoon in the ABC days and we’d leave at halftime to go to the Sugar Bowl.
I went years without seeing the 2nd half of it lol

Yes. CFB is trying so hard to become NFL-lite. If I wanted tradition-less football with mercenary players, I’d tune in to the USFL or some shite. At some point, the fans will stop caring.
The younger generation already cares less about football. The older generation doesn’t want this shite to happen. ESPN blew lots of money on an NBA deal and I think they may be doing it here.

This has nothing to do with anything. The playoffs do gamgbusters rating wise. The sport is increasingly becoming more national. This isn't even ESPN. This is Fox

I don't know why you'd assume the bowl games (assuming they survive) will always be tied to the conferences they have historically.

The Rose Bowl’s relevance has been significantly diminished for some time, but for some reason it holds the rest of CFB hostage due to its demands.
It has a lot of history and it’s a great setting for college football, but it needs to get in line along with the rest of the NY6 bowl games.
Its no better than the Sugar, Peach, or Cotton Bowl.
