I'm not a Mav's fan, but I haven't watched an NBA game since the trade. I follow the Pels pretty hard but can't bring myself to watch a game they are so bad.

The trade was horrendous. Just from an assets standpoint. They could have had a bidding war and recieved a war chest like no team ever has. Instead they sneakily trade him to the Lakers. It was annoying and dumb, but then came draft night and it made sense.

NBA had guaranteed the Mavs the top pick, just like they guaranteed the Pels the top pick when they traded AD. NBA has become too obvious with the cheating. Trade your star to the Lakers, and you'll get the top pick.

There will be documentaries made & books written about not only this specific Luka trade but the aftermath of everything that has & will transpire after it with these 2 franchises & the entire league. Glad he is out but there is nothing to celebrate for Mavs fans because the damage has been done. It’s going to be interesting to see if he goes back to Nike, goes to work for the league, or goes to work for the Lakers.

I guarantee he won’t work for the Lakers, Luka won’t put up with him ever again. Potentially Nike, but Luka has a lot of clout with Nike as well. At this point Nick is tarnished, the best thing he had going for him was his reputation with players and that is gone.

I had been on the fence with the NBA's validity for a while. The Luka trade got me to quit taking the league seriously completely. The Mavs magically getting the #1 pick as pity compensation was the cherry on top.

He's the fall guy but F him as a Mav's fan.

How the F$$K do you trade the bast player in the league for a washed up bum, and to the freaking Lakers of all people.

He should have at least got AR and 2 early draft picks

Why are you asking? We all know.

Nico was a former Nike exec lol. Luka is Jordan Brand as well...

Let me know when the Lakers trade for an adidas superstar.

and of course it’s the freaking Lakers, just like it’s the Dodgers in MLB that get to be the beneficiary of a superstar trade on the backs of a middle of the pack loyal fanbase

Dude should have been fired the day he proposed the trade in the first place … but I actually buy into a lot of the conspiracies around this trade now. Trade a superstar to the Lakers secret and don’t even get a maximum return for him?

Can someone explain the timing of this to me?

What happened between now and the start of the season to fire him now? The trade happened several months ago.

The team is 3-8, AD has already been hurt, and Luka is nearly averaging a triple double

I think they want to try to make the trade look more legitimate in the sense that now they want to display how horribly "upset" they are about it by not only talking about it in the media, but now firing Harrison.

Its all a stage performance. The trade was clearly done at the behest of the league wanting the Lakers to get a guy so theres no lull after Lebron.

This is all a response to the continued blowback by fans that are completely dumbfounded by how little sense it made to a supposedly "competitive" league. We all know the league is only performatively competitive and will put their thumb on the scale if money/ratings are at stake.

This was especially necessary given the NBAs drop in ratings over the past several seasons.

On top of this you have coaches and players making prop bets on games they coach/play.

The NBA is WWE for sure. Nothing serious about it.

Lakers will hire him for a front office behind the scenes role. This was all part of the plan.

NBA has been helping the Lakers long before this debacle.

Kobe to Charlotte? Gimme a break.

Gasol to Lakers for Kwame Brown?
Get real.

And now the most one sided deal ever...Luka.

Nico is the patsy, but didn't have to be. He will be well compensated for his role.

The NBA is staged. It's all entertainment and theatre. Lakers are losing LeBron soon. Enter Luka Doncic.

If the owners didn’t want Luka traded, they should also fire themselves.

Even if Nico wanted the trade, he isn’t able to execute a trade that big without the owner stamp of approval.

I think the owners didn’t wanna pay Luka the giant contract he was due.

Had he not been traded, he could have signed a 5-year $345 million contract extension. Yea that’s 69….
