Houston obviously makes more sense. Austin already has a Stars farm club.

Didn't Houston used to have a minor team called the Aeros?

Austin doesn’t have the corporate support of a city like Houston. Not saying it would be a disaster for Austin but Houston is more than double the size and population. You’d think that Houston would be the more viable choice.

I'm assuming this will also be met with another eastern expansion team like Atlanta to balance things out

The NHL probably needs to contract.

Austin wouldn’t succeed with NHL. Too many progressives that hate hockey

Houston has quietly been gearing up for a NHL team by building their own version of “Stars centers” like in Dallas.

The point being is to get kids playing so they become invested in the local NHL team.

Hard to see Houston without Ferttita being involved. Would they try building a new arena?

Bring back the Ice Bats, I say.

WHA.

They merged with the NHL but the Aeros didn't come along.

We need to stop pretending Austin deserves a pro team, outside of soccer. Let them stick to their music.

Honestly I question how well Houston would do with hockey. Too many fair weather fans. If they weren't pretty good in the first few years I think it could get ugly.

I have no idea why the NHL needs expansion. A 34-team league is going to be so watered down.

Maybe move one of the existing teams to Houston.

Its too bad the Oilers name is already taken in the NHL .

What would the Austin NHL team be called? The Austin Hipsters? The Austin Bats?
