It’s been illegal in the college game most of my life. If you want to watch rugby then watch rugby. We left that stuff behind with the forward pass, and football is a more exciting game for it.

Thank you for showing your ignorance of sports. In no way is that a rugby play. It’s a lame argument for those that don’t know sports. Not one rugby player/coach/owner claims that in their sport. Your one argument is that it injures players but when statistics showed that wasn’t true the NFL scrambled to find a reason.

For 50 years you couldn't push a player...they only changed it a few years ago. I am 100% in changing it back.

the NFL literally banned defensive players pushing each other from behind on special teams plays citing injury concerns as their reason. I don't know that statistics have to support the argument. It's just a consistency thing.

My objection to the play is that several offensive lineman appear to be lined up offsides. Why isn’t that a penalty?

How far do you take it? When scrums/traffic jams naturally form, should the whistle blow IMMEDIATELY? Forward progress limited to when the scrum formed?

I know it's college, but thinking of Clyde at Bama in 2019 on the final 1st down:

The only problem I have with outlawing it is that the only team that has been successful with it is Philly. It would be like eliminating a post route bc Jerry Rice was too good at it and nobody could stop it

Right. Maybe defenses should learn to stop it. If the NFL banned everything successful teams have done over the last 60 years we would be rugby.

To be fair 98% of that was Clyde the OL came in when he was already 9 yards downfield pushing the Alabama defense.

10 years from now no one will even remember it because it wasn't around long enough to be remembered.
you can’t say that when one of the best teams of the 2020s made it their bread and butter… Hurts and Philadelphia are synonymous with the play

Did that 400# DT from the Gators make it on a team?

Desmond Watson. Bucs signed him and he's down to 437 lbs from 463.

He got at least 5 yards he wouldn't have gotten without help.

When the defense can’t do the exact same thing then it’s a fairness issue. Down to compromise and allow defenders to shove their own through the middle of the line

it really is an unsafe play. I don't care one way or the other but if they care about player safety, it's an easy vote.

I hate the play, however, I think banning it is a little overboard.

If the NFL is going to allow the Tush Push then they should allow another offensive player to drag an offensive player forward who's carrying the ball.

Trevor Lawrence said it shouldn't be banned. Sunshine has spoken.

Quote didn't mention Roosevelt said he would ban football if they didn't listen.

Maybe the most famous play in NFL history - Bart Starr's QB sneak to win the Ice Bowl - featured his running back Chuck Mercin holding his arms up so as to not be penalized for pushing the QB.

There's forward passing in rugby it's just done with your foot and not your hand. Those are usually some of the more exciting plays.

In recent memory, the Redskins, Packers, Bucs Saints, and Cards have stopped the Tush Push. The secret is to beating it is to jam the center in order to stop momentum.

Is that why the Eagles have something like an 85% conversion rate on that play? But you figured out the "secret" to beating it. The overall success rate is somewhere around 75% league wide.

If it makes the game even stupider, you can bet the WWNFLOL will make it happen!

The stupid chuckle every announcer does when saying “tush push” makes this ban a day of celebration.
