So fricking weak. We saw it cost the Bills a playoff game because they couldn’t execute it. Because one team has a qb that can squat a house and can’t be stopped on short yardage, we’re going to outlaw what football was for more than 50 years. Pathetic
Didn’t they outlaw the defensive equivalent to this due to “safety concerns” a few years ago? If it’s unsafe for the defense it should be unsafe for the offense.
Either outlaw it in both sides of the ball or legalize it for both sides.

Good. Phuck Philly sports in general and anything that brings their fans joy.

Rules get changed & certain style of play gets regulated sometimes
Yep. And this is happening because the rest of the nfl is pussified.

You can still do a regular ole QB sneak, Hurts will be unstoppable still

Don't disparage rugby like that. The two arent remotely close

I hate the play, however, I think banning it is a little overboard.
Stuff is banned in the NFL all the time that barely has an impact on the game. This has a ton of impact on the game.

All for it. Makes the sport boring. It's entertainment.

It’s been illegal in the college game most of my life.
But it's been legal since 2012. The NFL is talking about going the opposite direction.
The problem is that the NFL cannot reliably call the rules that have now. By them outlawing it, it will be called/not called at a key point in a game and will frick a team which will then start more conspiracy theories of the NFL protecting certain teams.

Did that 400# DT from the Gators make it on a team?
I watched a highlight video of him calling him the "Tush Push Preventer" or some such nonsense. Every clip in the video the offense gained 1-2 yards. It was pretty silly.

Because eventually every team will have a backup whose only purpose is to do this
Oklahoma kind of did this back in the day using a backup with Blake Bell (now an NFL TE), but I think he ran out of shotgun usually and was still almost unstoppable in short yardage.
There are legitimate safety concerns for the defensive players and its just not entertaining to watch.

Just stop’em, pretty simple. All these teams want to sign these 270 lb rushing defensive tackles. That’s going to open up the physical run game, make an adjustment, not a rule.

Teams signed the 270lb rushing DTs because rules changes were implemented that favored the passing game and offenses shifted that direction.
With a 53 man roster you're going to be hard pressed to carry enough variety in personnel to counter every offensive style. Which is theoretically fine. But look through the history of rules changes. How many have been more beneficial of offense vs. defense.
The rules have consistently been altered to increase offense and scoring. Defenses can only make so many adjustments.

In recent memory, the Redskins, Packers, Bucs Saints, and Cards have stopped the Tush Push. The secret is to beating it is to jam the center in order to stop momentum. Its not this unbeatable play that needs to be banned.

Its not unbeatable, its unentertaining and a safety risk for defensive players. Someone is going to get their neck broken.

You weren't allowed to push runners forward in the NFL until 2005. It was a 10 yard penalty prior. You're still not allowed to pull or carry a runner.

When you learn the defense is prohibited from doing the exact same thing it becomes a no brainer to ban it.

how about just outlawing the bush push from behind? so you can still run that play without the pushing
