Every completion, incompletion, int...I can't watch a play being made and direct my attention to the very next play without the possiblity of a flag being thrown entering my head.

I feel like I'm walking on eggshells as a viewer, if that makes sense.

Nfl games are averaging over 15 penalties per game. Do the refs know we’re not watching because of them?

1/3 of them are false starts, illegal motion, illegal formation, delay of game, too many men in the huddle
stuff that is just sloppy

then when QB is hit, 1/3 of the time a flag is coming. Too late, too high, too low, too hard,...

I had a similar thought to this a few weeks ago. I used to be bothered by DBs celebrating every incompletion even when it was just an errant throw. Then, I started thinking about how it must feel to be in the near no-win situation that they are in. I don't blame them at all now. If you can be in the vicinity of a WR, help cause an incompletion, and avoid a penalty, that's a pretty damn good play.

Somehow, the Saints Jag game had 5 penalties Sunday. If not for the utter lack of offensive consistency, the game would have been a treat to watch.

Every deep contested pass play or third down I cringe. That’s not okay

NFL officials get too much air time and too much name recognition IMO. Take away their names from the broadcast. They want to get air time and influence the game too much

because they let the baddest men in the world decide the game. That's how the NFL is supposed to be.

The Super Bowl champs 1970 Colts had 708 yards in penalites in 1970.

The 2018 Pats had 744.

People aren't upset by constant flags. It's negating legal plays with asinine reviews; they overturn stuff that everybody at the bar thinks it was a legal catch.

It's this micromanaging that they can't even seem to get right that is the most annoying thing. All these reviews and they frick it up half the time. NFL is too backward to even understand Instant Replay reviews. They think slo-mo is real life.

And calling penalties on players like Roughing the Passer after they're already in the air while the QB still has the ball in his hands is the most absurd thing.

NFL doesn't understand or doesn't care about physics.

It took you this long?

I’ve felt that way for the last 6-7 years.

Every time a denfensive player makes a good play, I immediately assume there was a penalty

You're just starting to do this now?

For years, I have never cheered a football play until after I checked for a penalty flag.

That’s one shitty thread title. It makes it seem like the NFL said this

I stopped watching NFL after the whole kneeling debacle so they I decided to watch week 1 of this season and it’s just a very boring product.

I’m ready for NBA to start

Dude. It’s getting so bad, I was instinctively looking for a flag in the Astros game last night on a double in the gap.

This is precisely how I feel watching the NFL now as well. After every big play or big defensive stop, etc., I am immediately scanning the scoreboard on tv to see the yellow banner come up. It certainly dampers watching the game and I can only imagine what it is like for the players.

There have been close to 1400 penalties called through WEEK 6! So they are well on pace to break last seasons record of 3569 penalties. The game is over officiated, they need to figure out a way to reduce the amount of tacky calls that have little impact on a particular play -- not to mention throwing flags on pays when there is no foul, like they did to the Lions last night.

It's pretty telling when the announcers are routinely saying "and no flag on the play!" as if they're surprised when a big offensive play goes off without any yellow in the air.

This is what happens when you limit the reps in practice
