London series on Sunday in front of a robust, energetic crowd

I attended the Saints versus dolphins game two years ago. The stadium was packed with fans. The environment was incredible. I really think London is a viable market for American football

The challenge is geography. Any team will have to share a facility with a major soccer club. There’s just no room to build a new stadium. Players will have difficulty with taxes and their commute since London is one of the most expensive cities to live in on earth

Time zones are a big deal for the early London games.

Says who? They play games there now and it’s being looked as an option. Clearly time zones aren’t a big deal

So, going from a city where no one gives a shite about them to a continent where no one gives a shite about them.

An nfl team in London would be a disaster.

They’d have to force guys there in free agency and force them to stay. It makes no sense whatsoever.

The logistics are really overblown.

The tax situation is a bit more complicated, but all of that can be figured out too.

Sounds like the writer is an idiot

Thats great for when the Bills, Jets, Giants, or Patriots are the London team’s opponent. But eventually they will have to play against teams from the west coast and now its double the current longest NFL travel distance

NBA players have issues adjusting to living in Toronto and dealing with little shite like different cable channels and requiring a Canadian bank account. And this is for a country jokingly referred to as the 51st state.

That is a 15 man roster in a sport, and specifically a team, which is heavy on international players.

An NFL team would be 50+ players from a sport that is almost exclusively drawn from Americans being stationed in a foreign country. While the language is the same, British culture is a far cry from US culture in a number of ways.

Good luck signing free agents. Tax issues alone will kill their ability to compete. Add in family separation issues as well as the political climate in London and you can forget it.

The higher paid players won't feel it quite as much as the guys making league minimum. On the plus side there's no additional state income tax like here in the US. Salaries would have to be adjusted from the norm to compensate for the exchange rate since the British Pound is worth more than the US dollar.

It could work but I don't see why they would try for London when they haven't even tried expanding into Canada, a place that actually has a long history of supporting American style football.

The problem with Canada is that existing teams likely stake claims to the better markets, such as Seattle to Vancouver and Buffalo to Toronto.

Why not San Diego?

Because San Diego doesn’t want the Spanos family.

Not that I blame them either.

St Louis Chargers has a nice ring to it.

Give them a team. They are still shell shocked from the Rams leaving.

A division of east coast teams presents no issue.

How many divisions are there with NY and LA ?

them leaving SD was the dumbest decision in NFL history.

The Vikings admins who traded for Herschel laugh at this statement.

Agree with this 100%!!! The SA/Austin market should be the #1 location. Ready built stadium to play in until/if they get a new one. Football fanatic state that sold out every game that the Saints played there. Exploding population. frick Jerry Jones...if the owners are "THAT" worried about the current situation with the franchise in LA...and if San Diego isn't an option, then San Antonio should absolutely be targeted.

San Antonio, Portland, St Louis, and San Diego all need Teams before sending one to London.

Gonna be a hell of a commute for poor Phil Rivers
Id just take all my money back to the south or the Carolinas or wherever, retire and be done with it. If the NFL is seriously considering hitting the eject button on the LA project for the chargers it’s a circus act.
