An NHL franchise can and WILL work in New Orleans.
We just have to get rid of the Pelicans.

If you saw where Amerant Bank Arena is located, you would be shocked to find out it's in a giant suburban area long the Everglades and next to one of the biggest shopping malls in the world. It hsd no real personality but it's an escape from the hustle and bustle of South Florida.

Other cities with 2 major league teams:
Kansas City
St. Louis
Indianapolis
Baltimore
Las Vegas (for now)
Buffalo
Cincinnati
Nashville
Salt Lake City
Milwaukee
You left out Charlotte (Panthers & Hornets).
And out of the cities on that list, 5 of them also have Major League Soccer (MLS) franchises: Salt Lake City, Nashville, Cincinnati, St. Louis, and Kansas City (and Charlotte has one, too) so those technically have three major league teams.
Columbus also had two major league teams (NHL Blue Jackets and MLS Crew) as does Orlando (NBA Magic and MLS Orlando City).

I doubt Nola could support an NHL Team.
But I do think we could support a few games per year.
I’ve always thought NHL should host an in season tournament where the first rounds are hosted by non-NHL cities in hopes of growing the game. I think the South would fully support it

I do.
As long as ownership isn't shitty, that's what's been the issue the first two times.

To play the game of hockey with all the cutting and the skating you need really good ice and have a system that gives you a really good ice floor
its not cheap and if hockey is not a regular thing most arenas aren't going to spend the money
Ice Capaid surface isn't going to cut it for a hockey tournament

An Atlanta hockey team just needs to do what the Braves did which is play up north where all the Whites and money are. A hockey team would do well up there.

that would require a new arena would it not?

I believe so and SteelersBravesDawgsHawsThrashersLakersYankees will be here soon to go into details

Attendance wasn't the issue either time.
I've said that to you once already, try to keep up

Yes, but it won't be downtown.
There are 2 plans out there, both along the GA. 400 corridor due north of Atlanta. One is in Alpharetta, about 20 minutes from downtown. The other is 15 minutes north of there just inside Forsyth County which would be a Battery-style development.
Boat is right. That area is right in the heart of the possible STH base.

While those MLS teams are “major league” franchises, I hesitate to include them. I guess I should, as their attendance numbers grow, granted it’s not the premier league in the world for that sport. I assume they are cheaper franchises to run? The stadiums are smaller, and from what I found, cost anywhere from 25%-50% of what a state of the art arena would run. I assume the cost of each franchise is significantly less than the cost of a hockey team. In general, it seems to be a much less expensive venture for owners and fans alike.

Wasn’t there a revitalization proposal for the warehouse district that included an arena and soccer field by one of the major oil companies? That would be a reason ASM Global would not have heard anything about it…

The best thing the game of hockey could do to really grow in the South is not through the NHL. SEC hockey. It would be incredible to watch.
