Sad thing is Notre Dame and BYU would have been a nice matchup in a bowl game

So the committee should just ignore Bama having like 4 wins better than any ND win and put ND in bc "they tried to schedule a tad harder but it didn't work out".

Who made that argument?

Notre Dame still labors under the delusion that they are college football.

Every home game they played ends up on NBC and every road game is pretty much guaranteed to be picked up by CBS, Fox, NBC, ABC, or ESPN depending on who has the media rights yet they managed to come 15th in average viewership this season.

Why P4 conferences continue to give them so much power in negotiation when they're at a significant leverage disadvantage?

This top 12 autobid bullshite is a joke.

They shouldn’t be in the ACC regardless. They should be in the Big 10.

Agree with all of this. They haven’t won anything in 4 decades and they mostly play shite matchups. And like another poster remarked yesterday, if we thought this years schedule was weak just wait until you see what they have in store for themselves next year. It’s insanely bad

This is how bad the ACC was this year. SMU beat Miami and is the 2nd place team in the ACC. They lost to TCU (9th best in the Big-12) and Baylor (11th best in the Big-12). Pitt who is the 4th best in the ACC lost to WVU (14th best in the Big-12).

The SEC's 2nd place team got blown out by the ACC's 13th place team.

The Big Ten won’t take them if they don’t join for football as well.

Well, Notre Dame, you aren’t a member of the ACC in football. So, when it comes to football, it makes sense that the ACC would advocate for one of its football members over you.

On paper, I agree.

But, it's going to end up meaning they lose Notre Dame in the other sports. And, it potentially means the Big 10 gets Notre Dame.

Maybe the ACC doesn't care...but sometimes what's fair isn't what's best. The ACC is already on shaky ground.

I’m not saying the ACC is a good conference, but it’s pretty easy to cherry pick games here and there. As bad as the ACC supposedly is:

Florida State beat Alabama (who was no 1 seed abs conference runner up)

Louisville beat Kentucky (who took UTexas to overtime)

Clemson beat South Carolina (who was preseason top 12 and had then no 2 aTm on the ropes)

Miami beat Florida (who beat UTexas)

All by 2 TDs or more.

Oh - and Georgia Tech lost by only 7 to the SEC champion Georgia in a much closer game than Bama did - in what amounted to a UGa home game as opposed to the 50/50 ticket split for Bama/UGa.

Their schedule is worse than I realized. Sure, they played A&M and Miami up front and lost both, still played USC and Pitt, but then you got Syracuse, BC, Purdue, Arkansas and BC who were all atrocious this year. If they just took one of those games and scheduled with an expected-good team, they would be in. Self inflicted at best.

TBF, schedules are made years in advance. Hard to predict Arkansas would still be in the cellar. Pitt is usually a "tough out". BC has their moments.

But, yeah, frick Notre Dame. Their arrogance is coming home to roost.

Notre Dame is going to FAFO if they decide they want to go at the ACC for lobbying for a team that's actually a conference member in football.

Some SEC teams have already been cancelling future high profile OOC games with the move to a 9 game conference schedule.

Between that, the existing OOC in-state rivalries, and teams not wanting to risk an OOC loss that keeps them out of the playoffs.....Notre Dame may find themselves in a difficult spot to fill their schedule as an independent if they sever their current ACC ties.

I hope they find themselves in a difficult spot. The level of arrogance from that school just oozes.

There are always entities that think the rules do not or should not apply to them in any group with rules. ND is that entity in college sports. Hard to feel bad for them or the ACC since the ACC allowed their bullshite of joining all but one sport.

Hot take: Rudy was a bullshite movie that I turn the channel on every time I see it.

What’s bullshite about it? Shouldn’t the playoff be straight 1-11 and then the G5 team?

If they’re top 12 that means they went 10-2 at least which roughly corresponds to other conferences’ championships… in that case ND should be in every time
