There are countless ways to go about this without saying so and so is a liar. Make the player sit out the rest of the drive and the next one for any injury.

This is way worse of an option than what currently is happening and everyone would instantly hate it. Star QB gets up limping after a play, now has to sit out the final drive because of this rule you’ve created

If we can fix this midseason how come we can't fix Ole Miss faking injuries midseason though?

It’s quite hilarious hearing Tiger fans complain about faking injuries but don’t remember employing that tactic against Oregon years ago. Whether it was once or ten times. LSU did it.

Be better….

If osu was smart enough to pull it off, , this isn’t looked at til the end of the season. Same reason the Big protected them on their first possession of the game last Saturday.

Well that happened quickly.

Does Ohio State have more lobbyists than Alabama?

This happens to Boise State, nobody gives a shite.

We're such a reactionary culture when folks in power throw a hissy-fit.

the fix in that is just a lot harder to get right than resetting the clock when the other team commits a penalty solely to run clock

No one is saying that’s how to handle it. You simply mandate that a player that goes down and requires trainers is out until a change of possession

Injuries requiring officials to stop gameplay will necessitate that the injured player not be allowed back on the field for the duration of the opposing team’s current and ensuing drive.

If the injury occurs in the final drive of a game in regulation that results in overtime, the player will not be allowed to participate in overtime.

Obviously, this would only be for the defensive side employing this tactic. Offensive players, who are less likely faking an injury, would have to be addressed differently.

Agree. It didn't matter what Lanning said at all.

Throw in you can preserve him come by back by using a time out and that fixes the offense.

The qb getting hurt or having some issue requiring him to go out or use a time out wouldn’t be new

The coach will obviously pick the most replaceable guy to go down. If you're real crafty you sub in as shitty a player as possible to go down the next play ,so it cost you nothing (as long as that player isn't exposed on the play). Is that workable when in a tight game, spot? No idea. I won't put anything past Lane.

There was an obvious flaw in the rules that was easy to fix so they fixed it. This isn't complex.

Why? The possibility of being in this situation is not common.

new rules are way better. College games took way too long before.

Yeah and normally it would take an off-season of meetings to make the change.

Not this emergency "Margin Call" meeting in the middle of the season.

It's political. So Ohio State can inform the public that they got screwed and have everyone talking about it without saying it themselves, thereby diminishing Oregon's win.

It sucks, but you can’t put them in that position

The fix for this is retroactive fines. Have someone rewatch games on Monday or Tuesday after the weekend's games. When you see a really obvious one where a guy is jogging off the field and then suddenly goes down like he has been shot by a sniper, the athletic department should be fined $5M per incident. The head coach should be fined $1M per incident. The player should be fined $100K per incident.

Hit them in the only place that matters and it'll stop quickly.

College passing games got way too good to continue to stop the clock after every first down.

2006 Penn State at Wisconsin, Bert exploited the kickoff clock rule with 0:23 remaining in the half. Fun starts at 13:10. Can't even be mad, that shite offense didn't score the entire second half.

You make anyone down injured for more than a set time have to sit out X number of plays
