If you want to watch meaningful high stakes athletic competition, that always has jeopardy on the line, then watch some good old premier league football and champions league.
Every game matters and it feels like a crisis whenever your team loses.
Ditch the nba and come to the dark side which is the beautiful game.

It's such a terrible product and is such a time suck that unless you have great season tickets for work or something, you're kind of an incel if you closely follow the NBA regular season. shite is so lame.

Players and schemes are just too good
They're going to have to move and eliminate the 3 point shot or do something extreme and change the fundamentals, like banning picks or limiting how many passes you can make in a possession. Or maybe only award 1 FT to incentivize fouling
They have already done so much to help the defenses with rule changes there aren't many bullets left in the magazine.

This was the second-most watched women’s game since 2010.
The story here is the women’s game drawing so many viewers.. not some random NBA game’s viewership.

It highlights the increase in soy boys, who else would watch a weekday womens basketball game.

This is the answer. Just like they figured out shooting 20% from 3 is same as shooting 30% from 2 they've figured out that winning any 50 games rested is better than winning any more. To be fair, I find it an honest way to go at the current format. It's poor design and you'd get a better product and protect players by reducing the amount of games. They want to be European so bad, they should go 58 games everyone home and away then seed the playoffs 1-12 and have an 8 team play in between 13-20.

Nothing is more meaningless than regular season NBA basketball. So the ratings don't mean squat right now.
Women’s college basketball is one of the most top heavy sports that gets coverage. The SC and LSU game mean nothing as they will both be seeded highly and the games will not get difficult until the elite 8.
In the NBA you could get stuck in the play in or not have home court by just a game or two at the end of the season. That means a lot more than the way they seed a women’s college basketball basket.

An NBA regular season game is just hard to watch. Unless I guess you are a die hard fan of a team. It’s just an awful product right now. MLB was faced with the same thing-regular season games being a tough watch but they helped themselves tremendously with the pitch clock.

I’m a big NBA fan and not surprised, there are a few big reasons:
1. Too many regular season games and guys have figured it out that they are far less likely to get hurt if they take a few games off. Shortening the season would make regular season games more meaningful and therefore discourage resting stars.
2. Awful tv schedules and games start way too late. There are good matchups virtually every single night, but usually there are 0 to 1 games available on a major network. Most of us aren’t paying for LeaguePass. Certainly not fans in non-NBA cities.
3. Awful refs. I don’t think the league is rigged like a lot of people, I just think the refs are flat out bad and too many fouls are ill-defined. Guys like Embiid abuse this and get 60 free throws per night. It makes the games unwatchable.
4. Too politically charged. People watch sports to get away from politics and stresses of life. I’m not against players using their platforms for major issues, but it’s becoming a bit exhausting. It’s turning away some viewers.

Play some damn defense and quit calling fouls everytime someone sneezes in the wrong direction.
