And honestly, it will make the jerseys "cooler" to wear IMO. Hype beasts love big branded garments

I think Lifestyles, Trojan and Durex would be the perfect sponsors for the NBA.

remember when Fed Ex wanted to pay to rename the Grizz the Express when they moved? I'm a little surprised the league said no to that.

I honestly think it is a bit of a step too far.

Express works fine because it doesn't sound too ridiculous, but I could imagine some terrible team names if they let that happen.

They just got around it by buying the naming rights to the arena.

You do realize that professional sports leagues are the ultimate form of centrally-planned socialism, right?

If it's clean like soccer jerseys, no problem. That Celtics jersey... I think some people would have a problem with that.

Even the soccer jerseys vary from league to league. Mls and the big euro leagues have one sponsor. But many Latin leagues like Mexico and Brazil have jerseys with multiple sponsors similar to that celtics jersey

Hopefully one sponsor is all they'd need...

An nba jersey with a scheme like that would be pretty fricking sweet IMO. And with the sleeves on the newer jerseys, it will practically be a soccer jersey

I'm so fricking glad they don't allow sponsors on international kits.

Say what you will but an Apple branded Golden State, Clippers or Lakers jersey would make a killing

American sports leagues are. Which is the funny part of all this.

What are you talking about?
I'm talking about fake outrage.

No one would really do anything with their rage, let's be honest. We'd get a whole lot of people talking about how mad they are, a very tiny few to say they won't watch any more, of which 95% will still watch and the other 5% were never really hoops fans anyway.

We see this across sports all the time, fake outrage is everywhere.

Central power controls team spending.
Revenue sharing among the league. Shitty franchises are subsidized by successful franchises

Don't these teams make enough money without plastering an advertisement?

If you were offered a huge raise, would you ever turn it down, stating, "Nah, I make enough money?"
