I always wonder how they train for this event... are they just binge eating hod dogs 3 times per week?
The 30 for 30 that came out in 2019 called "The Good, the Bad and the Hungry" was very good. Showed a little of how they train. Also showed how Kobayashi got screwed over by MLE.

That can’t be right

This feels like it could’ve been a “day of the event” thread

Pat from Moonachie is my favorite competitive eater

I hear they will be eating vagina shaped cupcakes this year so women can't complain about the event being sexist from eating weenies only.

Been there several times and seen it done - absolutely no way I'd be able to clean that plate in two days, much less one hour.
Aside from the steak challenge it is a really good restaurant!
Before I did it my strategy was going to be to cut the steak into bites before eating it, but I was told by someone who had done it that it is a bad idea because by the time you're done cutting the steak will cool off and be harder to chew/swallow. He also told me to minimize your chewing so your jaw doesn't get sore and if you can dip the steak in the ranch provided for the salad to make it slide down easier with less chewing.
So that is what I did.
The steak did get boring after a while but I didn't get full. I did all the sides after the steak and that was easy because I was excited to eat something beside steak. The real challenge was being able to tolerate eating nothing but steak for 40 minutes. It was a good steak, but there is a such thing as too much of a good thing.

Scouting a food competition a month out. Impressive.
Is there a Mel Kiper of this world? Perhaps that can be you

I never miss this event. It is going back to the corner of Surf & Stillwell this year? Wasn't last year in a baseball park and all Covid BS?
Watched a live stream from some guy at that event too. It was interesting everything outside what you see on TV.

Essentially, yes. I used to have a guy ranked in the top 25 from Chauvin come in and do all you can eat wings to train. For him he worked on getting past the mind telling you to stop eating. I usually have drinks with Chestnut once a year and he hasn't gone in depth but he has said it is mostly mental and stretching out your stomach

I hope MGM and Caesar’s put out lines on this.

What Nathan’s did to Kobayashi was a disgrace. The guy literally took a dead, struggling event and made it must see TV.
What did they do to him?

Kobayashi is banned and they had a 30 for 30 on it
Posted on 6/10/22 at 1:48 pm to jmarto1
Why is Kobayashi banned? Did he have an extra stomach or something? I only saw one mouth.

Chestnut beat Kobayashi and sent his career into a bizarre tailspin. Kobayashi couldn't handle losing to Chestnut.
