I refuse to watch one second of this Soviet Style Stalinist Show Trial. Because that's exactly what it is.

They are doing this via congressional committee instead of through the judicial system because legal protections don't apply in a congressional committee hearing setting.

No right to confront your accuser, no right to a lawyer, no right to defend yourself, no right to discovery, no right to plead the 5th, no presumption of innocence, none of that.

It's a one sided railroading without the accused being able to rebut - it's even worse than the scene in Idiocracy when Not Sure had to go on trial - at least he had a lawyer in that scene.

Crazy... I was in all AP classes, got outstanding grades, had multiple academic scholarship offers, and played 3 sports....yet still worked menial jobs in high school.

High school bands attract outcast types.

Outcasts tend to be liberals because for them their liberal ideology is about retribution against the "popular" crowd in which they project the popular crowd to be conservatives.

Liberalism has always been about retribution and punishing your opposition.

My theory is that in our days if we wanted to socialize we had to drive somewhere to meet up, whether it be the mall or a fast food restaurant or someone's house.

Now they all socialize online, on their phones, via video games and social media. So there is no need to drive to someone's house or the mall to hang out.

I never see kids outside playing anymore. In fact when me and my sister were headed to that local burger joint she used to work at we saw two kids playing baseball in their front yard and we remarked at that.

I completely agree with you - when I was 15, my parents drove me around to every store, restaurant, and such in the area and forced me to walk in and ask for an application even if they weren't hiring and even if they didn't hire 15 year olds. And I grew up in a pretty well off family. But, my parents told me my entire childhood they will not buy a car for me so if I want a car when I turn 16 I will have to pay for it myself. Started working at 15 at a local burger restaurant and banked my money.

Even the kids who did have parents buy them cars still worked. One girl I worked with at the pool I lifeguarded at got a brand new damned Mercedes convertible for her 16th birthday and still worked.

That's what I was wondering. The dad who complained his son does nothing but play video games, that's on him. Take the video games away from him and make him get a job.

I also don't see how needing to do so many extracirriculars is necessary.

But working is about learning the value of a dollar and the value of work. I started working at 15 and was able to buy a $2500 car with the money I saved up.

Talking to some dads in the sauna at my gym this morning because the small waterpark at my gym is only open 3 days a week because they can't find enough lifeguards. Another local waterpark I grew up going to is also only open on Saturday/Sunday for the same reason, when usually its open 7 days a week in the summer. A popular burger restaurant is only open Thursday-Sunday because they can't find workers.

One of the dads says his teenage son is old enough to work but doesn't because he has to focus on too many extracirricular activities for his college applications.

A 2nd dad said he can't get his son to do anything these days, all his son wants to do is play video games or sit on the couch on his phone. He said he tried bringing his son to an Astros game and his son wanted nothing to do with it and bitched the whole game.

A 3rd dad says his son is 17, almost 18, but has never worked, doesn't even have his driver's license - he said his son has no interest in driving or having a car, and that many kids at his high school are the same way - no interest in having a car or driving. Which is the main reason(at least when I went to high school in the mid 2000s) that high school workers have jobs - to buy a car and pay for gas/insurance/upkeep for the car.

With teenagers these days not wanting to drive, the main motivation to work isn't there, and then you have lazy kids who only want to play video games and play on their phones, and kids who are so worried about college applications they don't have time to work, your teenage workforce is smaller.

In my day in the mid 2000s everyone at my high school had a job. I went to a more privileged well to do high school with plenty of kids who had rich parents so its not like it was a bunch of poor kids trying to help their families. Not many needed a job but we all worked anyway. Whether it be just a summer job or a year round job.

So if these teenagers these days are too lazy to work because they'd rather play video games or just don't want to work in general, why would they want to work after college? I worry about a lack of work ethic for their generation.

This was most certainly the case at my suburban Houston high school in the mid 2000s. They were all liberals.

And based on interactions at reunions and social media posts, I would say greater than 80% of the band members from my graduating class are rabid leftists.

Liberals in the mid 2000s were a bit different. They were mostly very anti-war, pro-gay, anti-gun, and believed George Bush was behind 9/11. These days the same crowd would still be pro-gay and anti-gun but pro-war and pro-George Bush and criticize anyone who doubts the official 9/11 narrative.
